Unforgettable Travel Company, which includes specialist small-ship cruising company Unforgettable Croatia, has held its first ‘Live Well Week’, a new annual initiative providing employees with funding for blood tests and additional time off to prioritise their health and wellbeing.
The week, which will now run every October, sees every employee, including the Unforgettable Croatia team based in Melbourne, offered a financial contribution towards a blood test, half a day off to attend the appointment and a separate half day off to donate blood.
Employees who had a blood test and either donated blood or walked 100,000 steps in the week, were named a Live Well Champion. Each champion received a medal and Christmas Eve as annual leave.
During the inaugural week, over a third of the staff across the company’s international offices took part, alongside hour-long team walks encouraging them to step away from their desks and get outdoors. Together, the team recorded 6.8 million steps.
In addition, Unforgettable Travel Company organised three webinars from leading health experts on topics including mind hygiene, healthy eating and posture and exercise whilst working from home.
‘Live Well Week’ was launched in memory of a much-loved colleague who passed away suddenly after eight years at the business.
The new initiative runs separately from the company’s annual six-week ‘Healthy Office Challenge’. Both form part of the company’s wider employee wellbeing program.
Graham Carter, co-founder at Unforgettable Travel Company, said: “We spend so much of our time looking after our clients, colleagues and families that it can be easy to put our own health last. We want our team to feel they have the time and support to put themselves first, and the peace of mind that comes from taking care of their wellbeing”.
“Dedicating our first ‘Live Well Week’ to a much-loved colleague made it particularly meaningful. It was wonderful to see people encouraging one another and extending that care to their wider communities. We’re committed to making this an annual opportunity for everyone to focus on their health and wellbeing, with a wider overall aim for that support to continue beyond the week itself.”
