A different side of The China House comes to life after dark. Mandarin Oriental, Bangkok introduces The China House After Hours, a new monthly series that transforms the restaurant into a lively social house, bringing together Chinese flavours, cocktails, music and theatrical encounters inspired by the charm of old-world Hong Kong.
The first edition takes place on 16 October 2026, from 10 pm onwards, with a special gathering for invited guests and key opinion leaders. Bringing fresh energy to the familiar dining destination, the series invites guests to mingle over drinks and late-night bites as performances and playful interactions unfold around them. Each month will offer a new reason to return, with details of forthcoming editions revealed along the way.
For the inaugural evening, Madame Rouge brings the atmosphere of a bygone Hong Kong social house into contemporary Bangkok. Live performances draw guests into the experience through moments of interaction and discovery.
At the centre is the enigmatic Dragon Lady, accompanied by two qipao-clad performers who move through the house, engaging guests with games, tea rituals and roaming trolley service. As the night progresses, Madame Rouge’s contemporary cabaret style brings an increasingly daring energy to the evening.
The cocktail selection, The Nightcap Edit, takes its cues from Chinese teas and botanicals. Highlights include the Wuyi Highball, combining Johnnie Walker Black Label with Wuyi oolong, lapsang souchong and orange bitters and the Jasmine Collins pairs gin with jasmine tea, lychee and tonic. The Salted Plum Negroni introduces a savoury accent to the classic aperitivo, while Peach Pu-Erh brings together cognac, vintage pu-erh, peach and dry vermouth. Non-alcoholic interpretations of the Wuyi Highball and Jasmine Collins are also offered.
Late-night bites to complement the drinks include Signature Shanghainese crab xiao long bao, crispy shrimp spring rolls, Sichuan pepper squid and charcoal-grilled Iberico pork neck alongside golden salted egg fish skin and red tofu chicken wings.
The China House After Hours will return each month, with fresh interpretations of the experience promising unexpected encounters with a few surprises kept under wraps. Each edition will bring its own mood to the house, offering another reason to step inside.
Future date is 13 November, and details will be announced through Mandarin Oriental, Bangkok’s official channels. Until then, the house keeps a few secrets.
