In a travel landscape increasingly defined by packed itineraries and the pressure to see and do as much as possible, Aahaasa Collection, Sri Lanka’s emerging luxury hospitality brand, is embracing the quieter idea of luxury: doing nothing at all.
Following the launch of Aahaasa Island Concierge, the Collection has introduced three new bookable multi-property journeys for travel in 2026 – 2027, connecting its three distinct sanctuaries across Sri Lanka. While each journey is carefully curated around the landscapes, wellness, cuisine and experiences of each destination, equal importance is given to something modern travel rarely allows: space.
The philosophy behind “The Art of Doing Nothing” is simple: luxury does not always mean adding more to a journey, but having the freedom to experience each moment at one’s own pace. It might mean walking through the gardens with a naturalist-butler to discover the spice plants, observing local village women harvesting cinnamon, or exploring the Nature Pavilion at Aarunya. It could be lingering over breakfast, spending an afternoon in nature, taking time for a wellness ritual inspired by local Ayurveda traditions and organic aromatherapy, watching the shifting skies across landscapes of tea, spice or spice gardens, or simply have nowhere else to be. At Aahaasa, this philosophy is expressed through journeys that balance curated discovery with serendipitous moments and unstructured time.
“We often think of luxury in terms of what can be added to a journey, but there is also luxury in what we choose not to fill. These journeys offer guests the freedom to slow down, be present and allow each destination to reveal itself naturally. Sometimes the most meaningful moments are the ones that are not planned but come from nature and community,” said Nath Rankothge, Founder of Aahaasa Collection.
THE LUXURY OF HAVING NO WHERE TO BE
At Aahaasa, each journey is designed around a balance of discovery and stillness, with the freedom to explore Sri Lanka at one’s own pace. Guests can kayak along the southern coast, walk through working tea estates in the highlands or explore the UNESCO-listed Knuckles Mountain Range, before returning to the privacy of their villa or taking time for a wellness treatment.
At Aavya Cove Villas, the rhythm of the Indian Ocean sets the pace. Days can begin with sunrise yoga, continue with a visit to local fishermen to select seafood for lunch, a guided exploration of Madu River mangroves and waterways, or visits to sea turtle conservation initiative. Alternatively, guests can spend the day by the pool or on the beach, with little to plan beyond dinner beneath the stars.
Set within a regenerated 200-acre working tea estate, Aadya Tea Bungalows, offers a slower take on Sri Lanka’s highlands. Here, guests can join estate staff to pluck and roll tea, explore the landscape on foot or by bicycle, hike sections of the Pekoe Trail, or discover the estate’s three waterfalls. Private tea tastings provide another way to connect with the traditions of the region, while the surrounding mist-covered hills invite quieter moments of reflection.
At Aarunya Nature Resort, overlooking the Knuckles Mountain Range near Kandy, nature and traditional wellness shape the experience. Guests can explore the spice gardens with a resident naturalist, learn about biodynamic agriculture and ongoing research at the Nature Pavilion, or take an open-air treatment at the Aarogya Spa & Wellness Centre. Mountain meditation, yoga and a leisurely breakfast overlooking the peaks offer a gentle start to the day.
Across all three properties, the emphasis is on meaningful experiences without a prescriptive itinerary; the freedom to discover somewhere new, or simply do nothing at all.
THE LUXURY OF STILLNESS
Three new multi-property journeys are available for travel in 2026 – 2027, each designed as a continuous passage through Sri Lanka traversing distinct landscapes and capturing the essence of the island.
- Aavya Cove Villas & Aadya Tea Bungalows (4 nights/5 days from USD $3,250 / £2,439 / €2,892):
Beginning on the southwest coast, the journey moves from the restorative rhythm of the Indian Ocean into the mist-covered landscapes of the island’s tea country. Guests transition from secluded beaches and coastal experiences to tea estates, nature walks and the gentle pace of the highlands. - Aavya Cove Villas & Aarunya Nature Resort (4 nights/5 days from USD $3,750 / £2,803 / €3,337):
Connecting coast and mountain, this journey moves from Aavya’s secluded beach setting to Aarunya’s highland sanctuary overlooking the Knuckles Mountain Range, combining nature, wellness and cultural immersion. - Aavya Cove Villas, Aadya Tea Bungalows & Aarunya Nature Resort (6 nights/7 days from USD $5,150 / £3,849 / €4,583): The complete Aahaasa journey, connecting all three properties in one continuous passage through Sri Lanka. This trip moves from release beside the ocean to reflection among the tea-covered hills before culminating in the mountains surrounding Aarunya.
Across the journey, private helicopter and seaplane transfers can be arranged alongside road transfers between destinations, allowing the transition from one landscape to the next to remain seamless. Aadya Tea Bungalows also has its own helipad.
WELLNESS AS PART OF THE RHYTHM
The philosophy of slowing down extends into Aahaasa’s Aarogya Spa & Wellness offering. At Aavya Cove Villas and Aarunya Nature Resort, guests can weave Ayurvedic and Aromatherapy-inspired treatments into their journeys, with programmes tailored to individual needs and preferences. Multi-day wellness retreats combine consultations with an Ayurvedic doctor before and after arrival, daily treatments using ingredients inspired by each property’s natural surroundings, yoga, meditation and personalised nutrition developed in collaboration with the doctor and chef. Wellness becomes an integral part of the stay, shaped by the landscape, local traditions and each guest’s individual goals. In this sense, “The Art of Doing Nothing” is not about inactivity, but about creating the space to focus on what matters most.
A DIFFERENT WAY TO EXPERIENCE SRI LANKA
Aahaasa’s new journeys reflect a broader approach to travel, one that places as much value on how a destination makes guests feel as what there is to see. For one guest, that might mean kayaking through the Madu River or meeting local fishermen. For another, it could be walking through a working tea estate, taking an Ayurvedic treatment inspired by the natural surroundings or watching the mountains emerge through the morning mist from a private villa. For another, it might simply mean sitting quietly with a view and having nowhere else to be. In a world of constant movement, Aahaasa offers the freedom to slow down, reconnect with one’s surroundings and experience Sri Lanka at a more personal pace.
