Tourism professionals and business leaders will gather in Ljubljana on 15 October to explore new opportunities for cooperation between Serbia and Slovenia. The Visit Serbia B2B Networking event will take place from 10:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. at the InterContinental Ljubljana, as EXPO 2027 Belgrade continues its international roadshow ahead of opening on 15 May 2027. As the first and largest specialised Expo in the Western Balkans, it will provide a platform for countries, businesses and organisations to build partnerships across the region.

The programme will introduce travel partners to EXPO 2027 Belgrade and mark the official launch of ticket sales for travel partners. B2B speed-networking sessions will focus on hospitality and tourism, giving Serbian and Slovenian businesses the opportunity to explore potential growth prospects.

The event will also see the signing of a Memorandum of Cooperation, alongside a presentation of the Slovenian pavilion concept by Saša Lavrič, Slovenia’s Commissioner General for EXPO 2027 Belgrade, and mag. Maja Pak Olaj, Director of the Slovenian Tourist Board.

Opening remarks will be given by Danilo Jerinić, CEO of EXPO 2027 Belgrade, Blaž Cvar, President of the Chamber of Craft and Small Business of Slovenia, and Mag. Leon Korošec, State Secretary at the Ministry of the Economy, Tourism and Sport.

Danilo Jerinić, CEO of EXPO 2027 Belgrade, said: “Belgrade and Ljubljana have a relationship that goes beyond geography and business. Our two capitals have been linked by a city partnership since 2010, and our countries share a history that continues to shape the way our people connect, work together and exchange ideas.”

Serbia and Slovenia: opportunities for cooperation

Serbia and Slovenia already have close economic ties. According to the Statistical Office of the Republic of Serbia, bilateral trade in goods reached approximately 2.04 billion US dollars in 2025. More than 1,200 Slovenian companies operate in Serbia, employing around 25,000 people. Slovenian investment in Serbia, including NLB’s investment in Komercijalna Banka, exceeds €1.6 billion.

EXPO 2027 offers a platform to build on these ties, with more than 250 bilateral business events, over 50,000 business meetings and a digital business platform to arrange meetings in advance. Slovenian travel agencies, tour operators, hotels and transport providers are invited to develop cross-border itineraries and travel packages with EXPO 2027 Belgrade.
