Multiple specialty brands secured by Western Sydney International (Nancy-Bird Walton) Airport (WSI) and its top-tier retail partner Lagardère AWPL will join the new global gateway’s retail precinct, as WSI gears up to open for its inaugural passenger flights on 25 October.
Lagardère AWPL, part of Lagardère Travel Retail, one of the world’s top three travel retailers, is delivering:
- A range of specialty retail at WSI, including EyeLove and Tech2Go stores;
- Two duty-free shopping areas for international travellers; and
- Three RELAY stores offering travel essentials in the arrivals hall and domestic and international departures areas.
WSI CEO Simon Hickey said he was delighted to mark this latest milestone as part of the airport’s valued partnership with Lagardère AWPL, which is managing around 3,100 square metres of space that will eventually comprise 11 stores in the airport’s domestic and international precincts.
“We’re pleased to have secured these terrific brands with Lagardère AWPL, as we continue to build the first phase of WSI’s retail offering, beginning on 25 October, when domestic passenger flights will take to the skies from Sydney’s new airport for the very first time,” he said.
“From day one, customers will be able enjoy a mix of quality retail like premium Duty-Free shopping and eyewear options, various convenient RELAY essentials, including fresh food and drinks, and the latest Tech2Go gadgets.
“We’re focussed on ensuring WSI and its partners are well placed to build on this experience with additional stores and brands set to join the precinct over the months and years ahead as flight services increase in line with passenger demand.”
Lagardère AWPL CEO Costa Kouros said it was building a duty free and speciality retail offering that combines leading international brands with products and experiences that showcase the best of Western Sydney.
“Our retail lineup is tailored specifically to the needs of WSI passengers. RELAY serves as a one-stop hub for travel essentials, fresh food, coffee, and wellness products alongside a curated selection of local and global brands,” he said.
“Specialty concepts like EyeLove and Tech2Go will provide access to top-tier fashion eyewear and the latest technology, while Duty Free WSI offers premium brands, exclusive items, and exceptional value.”
Lagardère AWPL’s offering includes around 1,900 square metres of duty-free retail and 1,200 square metres dedicated to travel essentials and specialty retail.
WSI commenced cargo operations on 27 July 2026, while passenger services will be taking off from Sunday 25 October 2026.
The 24-hour global gateway is Australia’s first major international greenfield airport development in more than 50 years, providing a world-class experience for travellers while supporting economic growth and enhanced connectivity for Greater Sydney.
