The SJM Macao Open 2026 is set to tee off next week, bringing some of the world’s leading golfers to Macao. Ahead of the tournament, the Community Golf Fun Day, a golf-themed community outreach activity, was launched at Anim’Arte NAM VAN. During tournament week, the Fan Village at Macau Golf & Country Club will feature a range of themed games and interactive experiences, giving residents and visitors the chance to experience the fun of golf first-hand. Together, these initiatives reflect the tournament’s commitment to making golf more accessible to everyone.
Title-sponsored by SJM Resorts, S.A. (“SJM”) for the fourth consecutive year, the SJM Macao Open 2026 is one of Macao’s major annual international sporting events and a flagship tournament on the Asian Tour. Over the years, the tournament has built a strong reputation for delivering memorable experiences for players and fans alike. Held from 15 to 18 October at the scenic Macau Golf & Country Club, overlooking the South China Sea, this year’s edition will feature a strong field of international stars and elite Asian players competing for a total prize purse of USD 1 million.

The Community Golf Fun Day marks the first activation under the tournament’s Community Outreach Programme. Held across two weekends at Anim’Arte NAM VAN—from today to 11 October and from 16 to 18 October—the event is open 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. on Fridays, and from 4:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. on Saturdays and Sundays. Visitors can enjoy free golf experiences, including golf practice nets, putting and chipping challenges. From now until 11 October, participants in the chipping challenge will also have the chance to win official tournament merchandise and an EVA Air Premium Economy round-trip ticket.
Several of Macao’s promising young golf talents made a special appearance at today’s Community Golf Fun Day, taking part in the golf challenge games, and interacting with students from local schools. Among them were Ma Kaijun, the top local finisher at last year’s SJM Macao Open, Iat I Huang, Chi Che Hung, and Chinese rising star Andi Xu, who introduced the sport to the students, shared their passion for golf and encouraged the next generation to take it up.
The 22-year-old Ma said: “I am honoured to be invited to participate at the SJM Macao Open Community Golf Fun Day. This is the most exciting time of the year for Macao golfers as we get to compete in our historic home Open tournament and in front of our home fans. Golf has given so much to me, I want to be able to give back as much as I can to contribute to the development of golf in Macao and inspire kids to try my sport. Today’s event is really perfect for that.”
During tournament week, from 15 to 18 October, the Macau Golf & Country Club will host a range of additional golf-themed activities for fans to enjoy. Located next to the first tee, the Fan Village will be open from 8:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. throughout the four tournament days, offering spectators a lively hub of games, challenges and prize-winning opportunities.
At the “Hole-in-Fun” Game Challenge Zone, fans can take part in a variety of activities, including themed experiences presented by SJM, a simulator challenge and a chipping challenge. Participants will also have the chance to win an EVA Air Economy round-trip ticket. Other activities include the Long Putt Challenge, Hole-in-One Challenge, and Floating Pin golf games. Participants interested in arts and culture can also join the Golf and Arts Zone station, where they can create sand art and take home their own unique piece as a special tournament souvenir.
To encourage fans to explore the full range of activities, each participant will receive an “Event Passport” to collect stamps for every completed activity. Fans who collect at least three stamps and like any official SJM Macao Open social media channel can redeem a selection of tournament-branded merchandise. Those who collect all the stamps in their “Event Passport” will also be eligible to receive a portable electric fan, while stocks last.
Designed by renowned Macao illustrator and comic artist Mikel Ko, the “Event Passport” combines the excitement of world-class sporting competition with Macao’s tourism appeal, hospitality and distinctive East-meets-West culture heritage, showcasing the city’s vibrant character. Each stamp incorporates local features and Macao’s dynamic energy, creating a meaningful keepsake for spectators.
The “Walk Like A Champion” walking experience will also debut during this year’s tournament, inviting spectators to embrace a healthy lifestyle while enjoying the scenic beauty of Macau Golf & Country Club. Participants can register at the redemption booth in the Fan Village from 8:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. on Saturday, 17 October, and Sunday, 18 October. The two thoughtfully planned walking routes will each cover three to four picturesque holes. Participants who complete both routes and meet the challenge requirements will have the chance to receive exclusive memorabilia, available in limited quantities.
As part of its ongoing commitment to supporting the local community, the SJM Macao Open 2026 has further expanded its School Golf Discovery Day programme this year, giving more young people the opportunity to experience the sport. Primary and secondary school students will have the chance to meet professional golfers and deepen their understanding of golf, while university students will take part in the newly launched Behind-the-Scenes programme, exploring career opportunities in sports management, event operations and tourism.
The first two tournament days, Thursday and Friday, will begin at 6:30 a.m., while play on Saturday and Sunday will begin at 8:30 a.m. During the tournament, free shuttle buses will operate between the West Entrance of Grand Lisboa Palace Resort Macau and Macau Golf & Country Club, with the first shuttle departing the resort at 9:20 a.m. each day. Fans are encouraged to check the tournament’s official social media channels for the latest shuttle schedule.
Jointly organized by the Sports Bureau of the Macao SAR Government (MSB), title sponsor SJM and IMG, and co-sanctioned by the Asian Tour and the Macau Golf Association, the SJM Macao Open 2026 will once again offer free admission to the public. Fans can register for complimentary tickets now, with each person able to request up to four tickets. For more information and to secure tickets, please visit www.sjmmacaoopen.com.
