Spread the love

It’s ironic that an industry devoted to bringing people together spends so much time working in separate camps. Corporate travel has its buyers. Business events have their planners. Incentive travel has its specialists. Everyone knows the same airport lounges, but not always the same people.

Now SITE Australia & New Zealand (SITE ANZ) and the Festival of Aviation & Corporate Travel Summit (FACTS) are addressing it.

The two organisations have announced a strategic partnership ahead of FACTS 2026, taking place at ICC Sydney on 25–26 November. SITE ANZ will join as a strategic partner and curate a session on Thursday 26 November, giving incentive travel a voice within the event’s wider business events programme.

On the surface, it is another industry partnership. Scratch a little deeper, and there is a sensible business argument underneath.

The incentive travel conversation gets bigger

Incentive travel is often portrayed through its more photogenic moments: a remarkable destination, a memorable dinner and a group of delighted high performers. Fine things, every one of them. Yet someone must approve the investment, assess the results, negotiate with suppliers and ensure the whole operation works.

That is where the worlds of corporate procurement, managed travel and business events meet. The new SITE ANZ-FACTS relationship is designed to put more of those decision-makers in the same conversation.

FACTS co-founder Derek Sadubin says the partnership reflects that changing landscape.

“Corporate travel, meetings, events and incentives are increasingly interconnected, and that is exactly what we want FACTS to reflect.”

It is a fair point. An incentive programme may start as a reward for exceptional performance, but delivering it involves many of the same commercial decisions as a conference or a corporate travel programme. Budgets, safety, suppliers, and measurable value don’t disappear just because the itinerary includes somewhere splendid.

The challenge is to keep the magic without losing sight of the mathematics.

A bigger table for SITE ANZ

For SITE ANZ, the arrangement offers access to an audience extending beyond dedicated incentive travel professionals. The organisation represents specialists who design, deliver, and support reward travel across Australia and New Zealand.

Its president, Tanya Wick, sees value in opening the conversation to other sectors.

“FACTS provides a new platform for SITE ANZ to showcase the value and impact of incentive travel, while giving our members opportunities to connect with new audiences and ideas.”

That ambition goes beyond swapping business cards over conference coffee. SITE ANZ will curate a dedicated session on the event’s second day, giving attendees a chance to understand what incentive programmes contribute and why they deserve serious consideration alongside other corporate investments.

The partnership also envisages future collaboration on industry content, education and engagement after the November gathering. It is an intention rather than a guarantee of results, but a useful signal that the relationship is meant to last longer than two days at Darling Harbour.

Why FACTS 2026 matters

FACTS brings corporate travel, business events, aviation, travel payments and loyalty professionals under one roof. Organisers are projecting more than 2,000 attendees, including over 600 qualified buyers and more than 180 exhibitors and sponsors. Those are event forecasts, not final attendance figures.

That potential reach matters for incentive travel suppliers, destination specialists, hotels, and event organisers seeking conversations with corporate decision-makers who may not ordinarily attend an incentives-focused conference.

The sector also faces a broader question. If companies expect travel and events to demonstrate clear business value, the people who create the experiences need to speak the language of the people who sign the cheques.

Of course, a new partnership will not abolish the industry’s traditional silos overnight. Conference lanyards have never been quite that powerful.

But bringing the right people together is a decent start. For SITE ANZ and FACTS, the real measure of success will come after the applause, when introductions become ideas, ideas become business and incentive travel earns a larger place at the corporate table.

FACTS 2026 runs at ICC Sydney on Wednesday 25 and Thursday 26 November. Event details and registration are available through the official FACTS website.

Years in Australia’s finest travel agencies taught her the art of calm, how to find a flight in a fog of cancellations, how to soothe a traveller when luggage wanders, how to turn nine frantic days in Europe into something resembling sense. Qualified, seasoned, endlessly patient, she learned that good travel advice is part logistics, part listening.
But the storyteller in her was always waiting its turn. Writing offered a new map, a way to turn experience into reflection, detail into delight.
