Le Méridien Melbourne is giving Halloween an underground soundtrack on Saturday 31 October, with live jazz, tarot-inspired cocktails and one-on-one readings taking over DOLLY.

Hidden beneath Bourke Street, DOLLY is the hotel’s underground modern European restaurant, cocktail bar and live music room, set within a building once home to Melbourne’s legendary Metro nightclub.

The headline event is The Grand Jazz Dinner Show: A Halloween Special, one of DOLLY’s largest jazz nights of the season.

Five-piece band The Night Creatures will lead the room with an electrifying set, with “Spooky” and “I Put a Spell on You” among the darker turns. If the stars align, there may even be an unexpected 90s pop detour with an appropriately spooky past.

Tickets are $145 per person, including a four-course dinner and matched wines, with DOLLY signatures including Steak Frites and Crème Brûlée. Previous shows have sold out, and tables are already going fast.

At the bar, guests are invited to choose their fate.

Four limited-edition cocktails take their cue from The Fool, The Lovers, The Moon and The Magician, each with its own mood, meaning and prediction. Four cards. Four cocktails. Choose carefully.

Tarot begins earlier in the day, with reader Kirra in residence from morning into the evening. Her one-on-one 20-minute readings are lighthearted, relaxed and possibly a little revealing. Kirra specialises in relationships, love and connection, though guests can ask about whatever happens to be on their mind.

Readings are $20 per person, with tickets already moving quickly.
