WorldHotels is heading into 2027 with a growing global footprint and a clear view of how luxury travel is changing. The brand now spans more than 250 hotels across 200 destinations worldwide, with more than 40 additional properties in the pipeline, while its network in Italy and South-East Europe is set to reach 20 properties by the end of 2026.
The expansion comes as WorldHotels identifies “Slowxury” as an emerging travel trend for 2027, reflecting a shift away from excess and traditional status symbols towards authentic experiences, quality time, comfort and deeper connections with destinations. Cited research shows that 52% of Gen Z and 47% of Millennials would rather invest in highly localised and personalised travel experiences while cutting back on traditional luxury expenses such as expensive flights, shopping and international dining. At the same time, the global slow travel market is estimated at more than €106 billion, with projected annual growth of 12% potentially taking it close to €239 billion by 2033.
WorldHotels’ own growth increasingly mirrors these changing travel priorities. In Italy, its expanding portfolio includes distinctive properties such as Sublimis Boutique Hotel in Camogli and Hotel Terme San Michele & SPA in Ischia, alongside upcoming additions including Horizon Wellness & SPA in Varese, Hotel Savoia e Jolanda in Venice, Villa La Personala near Modena, and the first two Italian properties from the Backdrop Collection on Procida. The brand is also targeting further opportunities across Southern Italy, Rome and secondary destinations, while looking to the Balkans, Mediterranean and Caucasus for continued growth across South-East Europe.
Expansion is continuing beyond the region. WorldHotels has grown its presence through additions in South Korea, India, Costa Rica, Honduras, Vietnam and Mexico, alongside an upcoming property in Armenia and plans to enter Portugal in 2027 with Hotel Máxima Santarém. In Europe, the brand has also strengthened its Crafted Collection through its partnership with Norway’s historic De Historiske collection.
Against this growth story, WorldHotels is highlighting 10 destinations and 10 experiences that bring the Slowxury concept to life, from quieter Italian escapes and private winery visits to artisan workshops, local culinary experiences, wellness rooted in regional traditions and scenic rail journeys. Together, the trend and portfolio expansion point to a broader evolution in high-end hospitality: luxury defined less by excess and more by time, place, individuality and memorable experiences.
