JW Marriott Gold Coast Resort & Spa has appointed Wilbur Tauro as Director of Operations, strengthening the resort’s executive leadership team as it continues to build on its position as one of Australia’s leading luxury resorts.
Wilbur Tauro will be responsible for leading the resort’s overall operational strategy and performance, overseeing all operational departments to deliver exceptional guest experiences, operational excellence, and continued alignment with JW Marriott’s global luxury brand standards.
Working closely with Multi-Property General Manager Ravinder Dhesi and the Senior Leadership Team, Wilbur will provide strategic operational leadership across the resort, driving service excellence, colleague engagement, financial performance and guest satisfaction while fostering a culture of innovation, collaboration and continuous improvement.
Wilburjoins JW Marriott Gold Coast Resort & Spa with more than 15 years of progressive leadership experience across some of the world’s most respected luxury hospitality brands, including Marriott International, Four Seasons Hotels & Resorts and Hyatt Hotels.
Most recently, Wilbur served as Hotel Manager In Charge at Sheraton Resort & Spa, Tokoriki Island, Fiji, where he held independent responsibility for the resort’s overall operations, delivering strong commercial performance, high guest satisfaction scores and positive owner outcomes.
Prior to this, Wilbur held senior operational leadership roles across India, including Hotel Manager at The Westin Mumbai Powai Lake & Lakeside Chalet Marriott Executive Apartments, where he oversaw operations across a 777-room hotel complex. He also served as Pre-opening Director of Operations at The Westin Resort & Spa, Himalayas, Director of Food & Beverage at JW Marriott Mussoorie Walnut Grove Resort & Spa, and held leadership positions with Four Seasons Hotels & Resorts, Grand Hyatt and The Westin.
Beginning his career as a Food & Beverage Attendant, Wilbur has built his career through every stage of hotel operations, progressing into senior executive leadership through a combination of operational expertise, innovation and a passion for delivering exceptional guest experiences. Throughout his career, he has led several notable initiatives, including launching India’s highest-altitude vegan restaurant, developing a sustainable Farm to Fork village program supporting more than 80 local farmers, and pioneering a plant-based wellness dining concept.
