PICK HISTORY IN BUNDABERG: VISITORS INVITED TO JOIN TWO WORLD RECORD ATTEMPTS
Australia’s Biggest Strawberry Pick’n Day will transform the fields of SSS Strawberries into a celebration of flavour, farming and community.
BUNDABERG, QUEENSLAND: Travellers are being invited to step into the strawberry fields and become part of a history-making day in the Bundaberg region on Saturday, 19 September 2026.
SSS Strawberries at Oakwood will host Australia’s Biggest Strawberry Pick’n Day, bringing thousands of people together for two official Guinness World Records™ title attempts and a vibrant celebration of one of Australia’s great food-producing regions.
The headline challenge will attempt the Guinness World Records™ title for the most people picking strawberries simultaneously at a single venue. Visitors will not simply watch the action. Every registered participant will step into the field, pick alongside the crowd and take home the strawberries they collect.
A second record attempt will test the most strawberries eaten in one minute by an individual, with a $10,000 prize on offer.
The event is a chance to build a memorable Bundaberg getaway around a genuinely once-in-a-lifetime experience. Beyond the strawberry fields, visitors can enjoy the region’s fresh local produce, coastal experiences and warm community welcome.
Duncan Littler, CEO, Bundaberg Tourism said “This is exactly the kind of event that gives people a compelling reason to pack the car, bring the family and experience the Bundaberg region for themselves. It combines our world-class produce with a bold, joyful and genuinely unforgettable experience.”
“Visitors will leave with much more than a punnet of strawberries. They will leave with a story they can only tell because they came to Bundaberg and became part of the moment,”
SSS Strawberries Managing Director Gina Dang said the event would celebrate the family business’s 25-year journey, while recognising the farmers, community and region that have supported it.
“Imagine looking across a strawberry field and seeing thousands of children, parents, grandparents, farmers, businesses, schools, clubs and community groups standing together. One countdown, one moment and thousands of hands reaching down together. That is the picture we want to create.”
“It is not every day you get the chance to be part of a world record. We invite visitors from across Australia to stand with us in that field. Don’t stand and watch history. Come and make it,” Ms Dang said.
The event will run from 9.00am to 3.00pm at SSS Strawberries, 11 Rosedale Road, Oakwood, Bundaberg. Registrations and event information are available at sss-strawberries.com.au/picknday/.
