Ms Ava at Rendezvous Hotel Melbourne has officially launched Society Sessions, introducing a monthly programme of stylish after-work soirées inspired by the glamour and sophistication of the bar’s namesake, Hollywood screen siren Ava Gardner.
Set against a sophisticated city backdrop, the events pair old-world glamour with contemporary mixology and will be held on a designated Friday each month with 25 September and 30 October tickets on sale.
Guests are transported to a bygone era of elegance with the rich sounds of live violin music echoing through the Grand Vestibule and expertly crafted cocktails served throughout the evening.
Long before text messages and emails, travellers shared their journeys through handwritten postcards, often penned from grand hotels where their stories unfolded. Inspired by the rich heritage of Rendezvous Hotel Melbourne, Postcards by Ms Ava celebrates this storytelling tradition.
At Society Sessions, guests are invited to slow down, put pen to paper, and share a story from their stay, creating a modern-day missive that would not look out of place in the pages of Lady Whistledown’s Society Papers. On the night guests will receive a postcard to write a message, memory, travel tip, or piece of advice for the next person to order the cocktail. They’ll also be able to read the anonymous postcards left by previous guests, continuing a chain of shared stories that grows with every pour.
Canapés and cocktail-style food can be ordered throughout the evening including Ms Ava’s signature cocktail – a blend of gin with salted cranberry and raspberry syrup, sweet vermouth, fresh lime juice and silky Wonderfoam. This beautifully balanced drink features vibrant fruit, delicate botanicals, and a subtle savoury finish.
