Brisbane City Council has entered into a multi-year sponsorship agreement with the Australia Independent Film Festival (AIFF), providing long-term support for one of Brisbane’s leading celebrations of independent cinema and strengthening the city’s growing reputation as a destination for creativity, culture and filmmaking.
The partnership marks a significant milestone for AIFF, providing greater certainty for the festival to continue expanding its program, showcase outstanding independent films, attract filmmakers from around the world and deliver exceptional cinematic experiences for Brisbane audiences.
Lord Mayor Adrian Schrinner said Brisbane’s creative community played an important role in the city’s identity and appeal.
“Brisbane is Australia’s lifestyle capital and we’re proud to back the local creatives who help make our city such an exciting place to live,” Cr Schrinner said.
“Independent filmmakers tell stories that might otherwise go untold and this festival gives emerging talent a platform to reach new audiences.”
The Australia Independent Film Festival has built a strong reputation for championing bold storytelling, independent voices and emerging filmmaking talent, with submissions received from filmmakers across the globe. The festival provides Brisbane audiences with the opportunity to experience outstanding independent cinema on the big screen while creating a platform for filmmakers to connect with audiences and the wider industry.
Lord Mayor Schrinner said the multi-year partnership would provide the festival with the confidence to continue growing.
