Set beside the Son River, on the edge of Phong Nha–Ke Bang National Park and within a landscape shaped by more than 400 million years of geological time, Auko Eco-Wellness Lodges is a new kind of retreat in Vietnam: part wilderness escape, part wellness haven, and mindfully conserving a sense of place.

Opened in July 2026, Auko brings an adventurous interpretation of grounded luxury to one of Vietnam’s most extraordinary natural settings. 30 eco-tented lodges sit lightly among ancient limestone karsts and jungle, connected by elevated bamboo walkways and framed by river, forest and mountain views. The aesthetic is deliberately understated: reclaimed ship timber, bamboo and natural materials, native botanicals, outdoor bathtubs, soft 300-thread-count linens and private terraces replace the conventional trappings of resort luxury. It is barefoot luxury in its most elemental form: less about having more, and more about having space to breathe and just be.

Where Nature Becomes Wellness

Auko is emerging as a new kind of retreat destination in Vietnam, where nature itself becomes part of the wellness journey. The eco-wellness lodges combine grounded luxury with immersive experiences, curated around the natural rhythms of Phong Nha – water, earth, forest, movement and stillness – allowing guests to move between still restoration and wild adventure according to their own pace.

Every stay includes a daily wellness journey at Lumina Wellbeing, Auko’s wellness heart, where indigenous elements and nature-based rituals, inspired by the native Cham’s healing wisdoms, are woven into contemporary practices.

The signature 60-minute Nature Hydro Journey moves through three elemental experiences. Guests begin in a mineral-rich Rhassoul Clay steam bath, where natural kaolin clay is combined with native botanicals and essential oils; continue beneath a Forest Shower amidst the surrounding greenery; and finish with a revitalising Cliff-top Cool Plunge, immersed in cool water at 10-15 degree Celsius while looking out across the karst landscape and verdant foliage.

The experience continues in the privacy of each guest’s own lodge with a 30-minute wild-herb foot bath and reflexology ritual (included), designed to soften and ground the body after a day of adventure. Beyond the hydrotherapy experience, open-air yoga and movement at the elevated Sky Studio, forest meditation, and sound bath sessions in the natural Sound Cave, where gongs, drums and singing bowls resonate against ancient limestone walls, offer quieter ways to reconnect with the body and the landscape.

The distinction between wellness and wilderness begins to disappear as guests explore the Auko wayfinding philosophy. A morning trek becomes movement therapy. Cold water becomes a reset. A cave becomes a place for listening. The forest becomes the treatment room.

A Hot New Retreat Destination For Nature Lovers

Auko is designed for a new generation of wellness traveller: curious, environmentally conscious, active and increasingly drawn to experiences that feel less manufactured and more connected to the world outside.

The experience follows three distinct pathways. Still Way invites guests into rest, reflection and the restorative power of nature. Wild Way answers the call of adventure, from trekking and rock climbing to river journeys and cave exploration. Open Way offers the freedom to move between stillness and adventure, following the rhythm of the day rather than a fixed itinerary.

This philosophy also makes Auko a compelling new destination for retreat hosts, wellness practitioners and experience curators seeking somewhere beyond the expected. Hosts can bring their own retreat concept into a setting where accommodation, wellness facilities, seasonal dining, movement spaces and nature-based experiences already exist in harmony with the landscape. Whether for a yoga immersion, wellness reset, creative retreat or transformational journey, Auko provides the framework, while Phong Nha’s vast wilderness provides the inspiration.

The Spirit of Phong Nha

Phong Nha–Ke Bang is a landscape of ancient limestone mountains, underground rivers and vast cave systems, including Son Doong, the world’s largest cave. Auko’s experiences draw directly from this geological and cultural heritage, allowing guests to encounter the destination and its rawness instead of just observing from afar.

The Origin restaurant at Auko follows a forest-to-table philosophy, with seasonal ingredients, local produce, river fish, native herbs and regional specialities shaping a changing Harvest Table. Fireside gatherings, forest picnics and starlit dinners extend the experience outdoors, while local ingredients and handcrafted products, including hand-woven textiles by the indigenous Co Tu community, create a gentle sense of belonging and place.
