Underscoring Marriott International’s confidence in his leadership, he has also been named Area General Manager – Bali (Premium & Select Properties), with strategic oversight of 21 Marriott International Premium and Select hotels and resorts across Bali. A seasoned Marriott International executive with more than 30 years of hospitality leadership experience across Asia, the Caribbean, and the United States, Arun Kumar joins Bali from his role as Market Vice President – North India, Nepal and Bhutan, where he led the performance and strategic growth of 60 Marriott International hotels across the region.

Arun Kumar returns to Indonesia with broad leadership experience across luxury hotels, city properties, convention centers, and multi-property portfolios. Most recently, as Market Vice President for North India, Nepal and Bhutan, he oversaw financial performance, commercial strategy, owner relations, and operational excellence for 60 Marriott International hotels across multiple brands and markets. His leadership advanced sustainable growth, strengthened market share, and supported consistent brand execution across one of Marriott’s largest regional portfolios. The appointment marks his return to a market where he has already made a strong impact, having previously led The Westin Jakarta and the dual-property operation of The Ritz-Carlton Jakarta, Mega Kuningan and JW Marriott Jakarta.
A Proven Leader in Openings, Luxury Operations and Performance
Throughout his Marriott International career, Arun Kumar has led hotels through transformation, growth, and changing market conditions. As General Manager of The Westin Jakarta, he led the successful opening of Indonesia’s tallest hotel, positioning it among the country’s leading luxury hospitality destinations and building strong commercial momentum and brand recognition in its first year. He later steered The Ritz-Carlton Jakarta, Mega Kuningan and JW Marriott Jakarta through the global pandemic, using agile commercial strategies to strengthen guest confidence, sustain profitability, and protect their premium positioning in a rapidly changing market. Earlier, Arun led major operational transformation initiatives in the Caribbean, including a US$50 million renovation of Frenchman’s Reef & Morning Star Marriott Beach Resort in St. Thomas, underscoring his expertise in large-scale resort operations and asset enhancement.
