The World No. 1 tennis player and Explora Journeys Global Brand Ambassador, Jannik Sinner, became the very first guest to sail onboard EXPLORA III, joining the opening leg of her Mediterranean Prelude Journey from 24 to 25 July. During the voyage from Genoa to Marseille, guests had the unique opportunity to participate in interactive wellness and social experiences with Jannik and members of his Performance team aboard the brand’s first LNG-powered ship.
While onboard, guests had the opportunity to engage directly with Jannik during a series of exclusive experiences. In dedicated Q&A sessions, he shared the discipline, mindset and philosophy behind his approach to elite performance following his recent Wimbledon triumph. Guests also enjoyed first access to In Balance: A Jannik Sinner Ocean Wellness Programme, a new signature wellness offering developed in collaboration with Explora Journeys and now available on board EXPLORA III. To mark its launch, guests participated in sessions led by members of Jannik’s performance team, including Simone Vagnozzi, Darren Cahill, Umberto Ferrara and Andrea Cipolla, with Jannik making special appearances throughout the programme. At the conclusion of the first Q&A session, Anna Nash, President of Explora Journeys, welcomed Jannik as the very first Honorary Diamond Member of Explora Club, the brand’s loyalty programme, presenting him with a commemorative Diamond Chaton. Honorary Diamond Membership was also extended to members of Jannik’s performance team in recognition of the teamwork behind every great achievement.
A key moment unfolded when Jannik officially inaugurated EXPLORA III’s new padel court alongside Captain Serena Melani, Master of EXPLORA III, and Anna Nash, President of Explora Journeys. Together, they cut the ceremonial ribbon before he took to the court for a friendly rally with his coach. The opening leg of the Mediterranean Prelude Journey concluded with an elegant Charity Gala Dinner at the French-inspired Fil Rouge restaurant, bringing together Jannik Sinner and representatives of the Jannik Sinner Foundation, the MSC Foundation and Explora Journeys. The evening marked the first joint initiative between the two foundations, raising funds for marine education activities for children in Mediterranean communities.
As EXPLORA III’s Mediterranean Prelude Journey continues, guests are enjoying an exclusive behind-the-scenes preview of the ship before she arrives in Civitavecchia (Rome) on 29 July, ahead of her official Naming Ceremony in Barcelona on 1 August and her Maiden Journey to Lisbon departing on 3 August.
Guests onboard are the very first to discover the next evolution of the Explora Journeys experience. EXPLORA III introduces thoughtfully re-envisioned public spaces, expanded Ocean Penthouses and Ocean Residences, three distinctive new culinary experiences—The Chef’s Table, The Cellar and Shore Club on Deck 11—as well as a newly unified Ocean Wellness sanctuary on Deck 5. Throughout the Journey, guests are also enjoying exclusive opportunities to meet Explora Journeys’ leadership team and the architects behind the ship’s design, gaining unique insight into the vision and craftsmanship that shaped EXPLORA III, the third of six ships that will join the Explora Journeys fleet by 2028.
