ibis Rotorua has commenced a full guest room transformation across its 145-key inventory, delivering a future-ready upgrade designed to meet evolving traveller expectations while strengthening Rotorua’s economy accommodation offering.
The floor-by-floor refurbishment, underway from February–October 2026, repositions the hotel with contemporary design, upgraded in-room technology and improved functional comfort – while maintaining the value proposition central to the ibis brand. The hotel remains fully operational throughout the programme.
This strategic reinvestment in both the asset and the destination, supports growing demand for dependable, technology-enabled accommodation catering to leisure travellers, event visitors, and business guests.
Each room will be fully refreshed with a modern design palette, new furnishings, upgraded bathrooms and improved lighting to enhance comfort and usability. Smart televisions with Chromecast functionality will allow guests to personalise their stay and remain seamlessly connected.
Sustainability and efficiency are also integral to the upgrade, with energy-efficient LED lighting supporting reduced environmental impact alongside improved guest comfort.
Located steps from Rotorua’s lakefront, Wai Ariki Hot Springs & Spa and Eat Street, ibis Rotorua is a key contributor to the city’s economy accommodation mix. The refurbishment reinforces the hotels position as a dependable, contemporary choice within Rotorua’s competitive visitor market.
Edward Judd, General Manager, said the transformation ensures the property continues to meet modern traveller and trade expectations.
