Japan to South Africa in 2028 aboard the new Atlas Adventurer
– the world’s first luxury expedition sailing yacht – launching November 2028

Book with Cruise Traveller by September 30, 2026.

Two extraordinary continents, 19 fascinating countries, 87 beautiful ports, 128 unforgettable nights – all on one incredible and seamless voyage from the colourful culture of Japan to the storied sands of South Africa in 2028/29 aboard the world’s first luxury expedition sailing yacht, Atlas Adventurer, just three months after her celebrated launch.

This new and remarkable journey offers the chance to be amongst the first to sail on Atlas Adventurer and the rare opportunity to experience the world as few travellers ever will aboard a revolutionary, three-masted vessel designed for authentic discovery and cultural immersion.

To mark the unveiling of details of the new 128-night ‘Grand Odyssey Expedition’ in 2028, Atlas Ocean Voyages and Cruise Traveller, which exclusively represents Atlas Ocean Voyages here in Australia, are offering a special flight credit of US$9000 per couple, two free hotel nights pre-cruise in Japan and a host of complimentary onboard amenities for bookings made with Cruise Traveller before September 30, 2026.

To be launched in 2028, Atlas Adventurer will be a 210-metre-long, next-generation, luxury expedition sailing yacht, accommodating up to 400 guests – all in suites.  Inspired by the wind mastery of vessels from the 15th century and offering the solid sails and advanced, electric propulsion of the 21st century, the sleek and elegant Atlas Adventurer will sport three carbon masts and the elevated comfort of seven fine dining venues, five lounges, an expanded fitness and wellness centre, a large pool, and purpose-built expedition capabilities, including Zodiacs, luxury motorboats, and a marina platform with an ocean pool for water-based exploration.

Capable of zero emission and near-silent operation, the yacht will be equipped with dual-fuel engines and electric-hybrid propulsion, featuring a large nine-megawatt marine battery system – one of the largest marine battery systems of its kind.

Spanning more than a third of a year, the 128-night Grand Odyssey Expedition begins in Kobe, Japan, on November 30, 2028, when Atlas Adventurer sets sail, bound for 87 destinations in 19 countries throughout Asia and Africa and across the Indian Ocean. Countries include Vietnam, The Philippines, Malaysia, Indonesia, Thailand, The Maldives, Seychelles, India, Sri Lanka, Madagascar, Tanzania, Mozambique and Kenya.

Tracing ancient trade routes, the journey will unfold at an unhurried pace, allowing time to truly connect with each destination, its people, traditions and landscapes, rather than simply passing through. Overnight stays in 20 ports provide the freedom to experience destinations after daytime tourists have departed, and discover the authentic rhythm of local life.

Along the way, there are cosmopolitan cities, pristine, tropical islands,  breathtaking natural wonders, rich cultural experiences, the spectacle of a lunar eclipse illuminating Singapore’s skyline, Christmas and New Year festivities onboard and the chance to find the ‘big five’ on an African wildlife safari.

In Australia, Cruise Traveller Managing Director, Joe O’Sullivan, said: “Atlas Ocean Voyages and the brand new Atlas Adventurer will appeal to Australians who value effortless elegance, an abundance of space, elevated cuisine, efficient service, affordability, and a focus on authentic, low-impact discovery in remote and pristine places around the world.”
