As Japan continues to grow in popularity as a top travel destination for Australians, ATIA is partnering with Fukushima Prefecture for two famils in October, available
The famils will run from October 21-25 and October 24-29, offering first-hand experiences that are ideal for selling to clients who want to explore Japan in a deeper and more meaningful way. This is especially the case for our independent and home-based agents who have particularly appreciated the opportunity to participate. Beyond alleviating over-tourism and encouraging sustainable travel, visiting regional areas like Fukushima offers a huge range of experiences. The famils will take agents from Tokyo to the Aizu or Hamadōri
ATIA and Fukushima will be hosting a webinar on July 29 to explore the unique experiences on offer in Fukushima.
ATIA members can register for the webinar here: https://register.gotowebinar.
To be eligible for the famil, agents must attend the webinar or watch the recording and share why they would love to travel to Fukushima in 100 words or less. The famil attendees will then be selected on August 31.
Japan is currently seeing unprecedented popularity from Australians, with ATIA’s June Travel Trends report showing a 12.5% increase in Australians travelling to Japan from April 2025 – April 2026. ATIA is equipping members with the opportunity to tap into Japan’s popularity by championing a new angle for clients who seek authentic, cultural experiences outside of the main cities.
