Australian travellers have a new way to read the airfare tea leaves. It is better than crossed fingers and stronger than a flat white at the gate.

KAYAK has launched its new Flight Price Trends Dashboard available at https://www.kayak.com.au/c/flight-price-trends, giving Australian travellers, agents and business bookers a weekly view of how airfares are moving across domestic and international routes.

Also, to be precise, the tool is not technically a “flight tracker” in the live-flight-status sense. It is KAYAK’s Flight Price Trends Dashboard, which tracks airfare price movements, not aircraft movements.

The news is well-timed for agents, business bookers and holidaymakers. Domestic flight prices have fallen since February. They are now 12 per cent lower than last year. International fares have also eased. They are down 11 per cent over recent months and almost level with 2025 prices.

That does not mean every fare is now a gift. Routes move in their own way. Seasons, fuel costs and demand still call the tune. Bali may cool while another route climbs. That is why the dashboard matters. It gives travellers a weekly view, not just a hunch.

“Flight price trends are evolving differently across routes – while some are getting more expensive, others are seeing prices decline,” said Paul Jacobs, GM & SVP, APAC at KAYAK. “For example, flights to destinations like Denpasar (Bali, Indonesia), Singapore or Tokyo (Japan) have been trending down for weeks. Looking at how prices are changing week to week can help travelers make more confident decisions about when and where to travel.”

KAYAK is also steering travellers to its Flexible Dates, Price Alerts and Explore tools. Flexible Dates helps compare cheaper days to fly. Price Alerts track fare changes across flights, hotels and car hire. Explore helps match a trip to a budget. KAYAK describes these tools as ways to monitor price changes, compare dates and identify destinations by budget and timing.

The message is simple. Watch the trend line. KAYAK’s methodology states that the insights are based on searches from KAYAK.com.au and associated brands from January 2026 onward, aggregated weekly, with prices based on average return economy flights departing from Australia. In a market shaped by cost, season and demand, good data may beat old luck at the boarding gate.

A graduate of Bangkok University International, she stepped straight into Thailand’s tourism industry, learning early how much care goes into making someone else’s holiday feel effortless.
She worked with some of the country’s best destination management teams, polishing the details most travellers never see but always remember. Eventually, the road began calling louder than meetings and schedules. Yves packed a bag and went looking again, trading conference calls for compass points.
Somewhere between Chiang Mai and Copenhagen, she started writing it down. Those reflections became a blog, warm and observant.
