The narrative surrounding women’s professional golf has shifted from a conversation about growth to one absolute dominance. At the epicentre of this transformation is the partnership between the Ladies European Tour (LET) and the PIF Global Series. By merging historic, elite venues with a massive $15 million prize purse across five events, this alliance has fundamentally recalibrated the economic and competitive floor of the sport, turning the Series into one of the most high-stakes, aspirational stages in female global athletics.

For professional golfer and Golf Saudi ambassador Alison Lee, this shift isn’t just about the money, though the sheer scale of the investment is a clear signal of intent.

“To grow the game, you need investment, and they believe in us,” says Lee. “It’s meaningful. You feel the investment, the care, the intention behind it. That kind of support makes a difference.”

The scale of this ambition is perfectly encapsulated by the PIF London Championship, which returns to the prestigious Centurion Club in Hertfordshire from August 6–9, 2026. Marking its sixth consecutive year, the tournament has become the cornerstone of the Series, challenging the world’s best on one of England’s finest layouts.

For athletes like Lee, the tournament is more than just a date on the calendar; it represents the unbeatable competitive intensity that the PIF Global Series has fostered. “You see so many more girls from different countries coming to compete because the prize fund has gone up,” Lee notes. “It’s a huge win for professional sports, and in particular, a huge win for women’s professional golf.”

Lee’s recent return to the game following the birth of her son, Levi, has added a new layer of grit to her professional identity. Her journey back to the leaderboard is a testament to the modern athlete’s mindset, one that balances ruthless professional ambition with personal grace.

“Give yourself grace,” Lee reflects. “To be a great athlete, sometimes you have to be selfish, and that’s okay. Take breaks, ask for help. It makes you a better mum too.”

For Lee, the goal is simple but defiant: “I don’t want to just make cuts, I want to contend.” It’s this focus on excellence, supported by the stability of the Series, that is defining the next generation of golfing icons.

The commercial success of the Series is matched by a ground-level commitment to the sport’s future. Golf Saudi and the Public Investment Fund (PIF) are not merely hosting tournaments; they are building a global pipeline.

The sport of golf is no longer the old person’s game of the past. It is becoming one of the most international, fast-paced, and aspirational sports in the world.

As the tour prepares for the PIF London Championship this August, the message from athletes like Lee is clear: The landscape has changed. The doors are open. And for those willing to do the work, the sky is the limit.
