Dieter Vranckx has assumed the Chairmanship of the Board of Directors of SWISS. Ashwin Bhat, CEO of Lufthansa Cargo and a former member of the SWISS Board of Directors, has been newly elected to the Board. Both bring many years of leadership experience and know SWISS extremely well through their own previous roles within the company.
Following the decision of Chairman of the Board Reto Francioni not to stand for re-election, Dieter Vranckx will assume the role of Chairman of the Board of Directors of Swiss International Air Lines (SWISS). Dieter Vranckx served as CEO of SWISS from 2021 to 2024 and has been a member of the Board of Directors since 2024. Today, he is a member of the Executive Board of the Lufthansa Group and, as Chief Commercial Officer, is responsible for the Group’s commercial activities.
Ashwin Bhat has been newly elected to the Board of Directors. He has served as Chief Executive Officer of Lufthansa Cargo since April 2023, having previously held the position of Chief Commercial Officer since March 2021. Prior to that, he headed SWISS WorldCargo in Zurich from October 2015. Ashwin Bhat joined the former Swisscargo AG in 1999 and has since held various leadership positions. He had already served on the SWISS Board of Directors from 2023 to 2024.
With Dieter Vranckx and Ashwin Bhat, the Board of Directors gains two personalities with extensive international aviation experience who know SWISS exceptionally well from many years of service within the company.
