Luxury travel heavyweight Aman is taking its sea ambitions up another notch, unveiling the first Caribbean itineraries for its much-anticipated yacht, Amangati.
And if anyone thought Aman was simply dipping a well-manicured toe into the cruise sector, think again.
The hospitality brand famous for whisper-quiet resorts, impossibly serene spas, and room rates that can make even seasoned luxury agents reach for a restorative cup of tea has revealed an ambitious inaugural Caribbean programme beginning on 21 November 2027.
The announcement follows the recent launch of Amangati’s Mediterranean season and confirms that the luxury yacht will cross the Atlantic to begin a series of Caribbean sailings running through to 2 January 2028.
In other words, Aman is not entering the luxury cruise market quietly. It’s arriving in a chauffeured limousine tender.
Starting from Saint John’s in Antigua and Barbuda, the yacht’s first Caribbean season will focus on three distinct regions: the Leeward Islands, the Windward Islands and the Dutch Caribbean.
For travel advisors chasing affluent clients increasingly seeking exclusivity rather than mega-ship experiences, the timing could hardly be better.
Luxury expedition and yacht cruising has become one of travel’s fastest-growing sectors, with high-net-worth travellers showing a clear preference for smaller vessels, longer stays and more immersive experiences. Aman believes it has found precisely that sweet spot.
Small Ship, Big Ambitions
Unlike traditional cruise itineraries that often resemble speed-dating through destinations, Amangati promises something altogether more leisurely.
Late departures, overnight stays and secluded anchorages rather than crowded commercial berths form the backbone of the programme.
It’s a philosophy that should resonate strongly with the Aman faithful, many of whom regard rushing as something other people do.
The opening Leeward Islands itineraries will feature calls to Saint Barthélemy, Saint Kitts and Nevis, the British Virgin Islands, Sint Maarten, Saba, Montserrat and Anguilla, alongside dedicated marina experiences in Barbuda.
Meanwhile, voyages through the Windward Islands will link Antigua and Barbados with destinations including Guadeloupe, Dominica, Martinique, Saint Lucia, Canouan and Grenada.
The Dutch Caribbean itineraries venture south to explore Aruba, Bonaire, and Curaçao, while also incorporating the spectacular Tobago Cays.
The season culminates with what promises to be one of the most exclusive New Year’s Eve celebrations in the Caribbean: a private two-night anchorage at a resort in Nevis spanning the transition from 2027 to 2028.
No fireworks-packed mega-terminal here. Just a discreet celebration, Aman style.
Wellness At Sea Takes Centre Stage
Before reaching the Caribbean, Amangati will undertake a 13-night Atlantic crossing from Malaga to Antigua.
However, Aman is positioning the repositioning voyage as far more than a simple delivery sailing.
Dubbed the Atlantic Passage, the crossing has been designed as a dedicated wellness experience centred on restoration, longevity and holistic wellbeing.
That’s a bold play, but perhaps an astute one.
In an era where “busy” has somehow become a badge of honour, the prospect of nearly two weeks crossing the Atlantic with little more pressing than deciding between a spa treatment and sunset cocktails could prove remarkably appealing.
The vessel itself certainly leaves little to chance.
Carrying just 47 ocean-facing suites, Amangati will accommodate a maximum of 94 guests. Every suite features an expansive private terrace, floor-to-ceiling windows and the services of a dedicated Suite Host.
Aman is also making plenty of noise about its spa credentials, billing the onboard Aman Spa as the largest in luxury yachting. Each treatment suite opens onto a private terrace complete with its own whirlpool.
Frankly, if that’s roughing it, most travellers would happily volunteer.
Across nine decks, guests will also have access to four signature restaurants, open-air lounges, watersports facilities and direct access to the sea via the yacht’s marina platform.
Mediterranean Curtain Call
Ahead of the Caribbean debut, Aman has released the final four itineraries of its inaugural Mediterranean season.
The voyages include Aegean Treasures, Italian Flavours, Coastal Highlights and Western Mediterranean, sailing between October and November 2027.
Collectively, they mark the conclusion of Amangati’s first European chapter before the vessel heads west across the Atlantic.
The bigger question for the industry now is whether Aman can replicate on water the almost cult-like loyalty it enjoys on land.
Given the brand’s track record, few would be betting against it.
For luxury travel advisors, however, one thing already seems certain: securing space aboard Amangati may soon become considerably harder than finding a sun lounger on Saint Barts during Christmas week.
