Sheraton Grand Mirage Resort, Port Douglas has announced the appointment of Catherine (Kath) Townsend as General Manager, effective 8 June 2026.
Townsend joins the resort with more than 25 years of leadership experience across luxury hotels and resorts in Australia and the Asia Pacific region. Most recently serving as General Manager of The Millen Penang, Autograph Collection, she oversaw the full pre-opening and launch of the luxury five-star property, delivering strong operational and financial outcomes from the outset.
Her career spans senior leadership roles with Marriott Autograph Collection, YTL Hotels, Aman, and One&Only, with broad P&L accountability across complex resort environments throughout the Asia Pacific region. A background combining rooms operations and food and beverage has shaped a commercially focused, hands-on leadership style, with a particular emphasis on guest experience and team engagement.
Townsend’s appointment reinforces Marriott International’s commitment to experienced leadership across its luxury and premium resort portfolio. Her return to Australia marks a new chapter for Sheraton Grand Mirage Resort, Port Douglas as the property continues to build on its standing as one of Far North Queensland’s premier beachfront destinations.
