The Malaysia Convention & Exhibition Bureau (MyCEB), with the support of Tourism Malaysia Almaty and the Embassy of Malaysia in the Republic of Uzbekistan, has successfully organised its first MyCEB Sales Call Programme and the Malaysia Business Events Seminars in Almaty on 2 June 2026 and Tashkent, Uzbekistan, on 4 June 2026.

These initiatives marked Malaysia’s inaugural dedicated Business Events engagements in Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan, reinforcing MyCEB’s commitment in expanding Malaysia’s presence in emerging international markets and positioning the country as a leading Business Events destination in Asia.

The program brought together representatives from the tourism industry, corporate sector, event organisers and the Meetings, Incentives, Conferences, and Exhibitions (MICE) industry from Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan. The engagements served as dedicated platforms to showcase Malaysia’s strengths as a preferred Business Events destination, highlighting the country’s capabilities in hosting international meetings, conferences, exhibitions, and incentive travel programmes.

Opening remarks were delivered by Mr. Nor Shazly Azmi, Director of the Tourism Malaysia Almaty Office, and Mr. Edward Lim Chee Chong, Senior Manager of the Business Development Division, MyCEB. The officiating speech on behalf of the Ambassador of Malaysia to the Republic of Uzbekistan was delivered by Mr. Arhan Syaftisyah Shah Anuar.

During the program, MyCEB presented highlights on Malaysia’s competitive advantages as an international Business Events destination, including its world-class infrastructure, modern hospitality sector, extensive international connectivity, competitive value proposition, and strong government support for the Business Events industry.

“Central Asia represents a promising growth market for Malaysia’s Business Events industry. Through these inaugural engagements in Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan, we are strengthening industry connections, creating new opportunities for collaboration and positioning Malaysia as the preferred gateway for international Business Events in Southeast Asia,” said Ms. Tan Mei Phing, Chief Executive Officer of MyCEB.

Supported by modern infrastructure, strong air connectivity, government support, and a diverse portfolio of world-class venues, Malaysia offers compelling advantages for Business Events of all scales.”

The program in Almaty also featured a tourism presentation by Tourism Malaysia Almaty, showcasing Malaysia’s leisure, luxury, family and business travel offerings to the Kazakhstan market.

Participants were introduced to Malaysia’s extensive range of Business Events offerings, alongside the growing appeal of bleisure travel experiences that combine business and leisure tourism. The seminars also facilitated networking and future collaboration opportunities between Malaysian and Central Asian industry stakeholders.

The programmes highlighted the growing potential for cooperation between Malaysia and Central Asian countries in tourism, trade, and business engagement, in line with the Visit Malaysia 2026 campaign.
