Adventure World has expanded its Tailor-Made Winter Collection with the launch of the new Canadian Yellowknife & Blachford Winter Retreat itinerary – a seven-night Arctic escape designed for travellers seeking a deeper, more immersive Canadian winter experience.
Priced from AU$9,439pp / NZ$11,485pp, the itinerary combines the remote beauty of Canada’s Northwest Territories with stays in Yellowknife and the newly renovated Blachford Lodge, an off-grid wilderness retreat accessible only by bush plane.
Set on the shores of Blachford Lake, far from city lights and surrounded by snow-covered forest, the experience offers travellers the chance to witness the aurora borealis in one of the world’s best Northern Lights viewing regions. Days are spent embracing the northern winter through a range of included activities and immersive Arctic experiences.
As part of the lodge experience, Adventure World travellers can enjoy two guided activities or workshops daily, alongside complimentary use of the lodge’s winter equipment including ice skates, cross-country skis, snowshoes, fat tyre bikes and kick sleds. Guests can skate across the frozen lake, snowshoe through forest and lakeside trails, try interactive experiences such as igloo and quinzhee building, or unwind in the open-air hot tub and lakeside sauna beneath the stars.
Beyond the lodge, the itinerary also shines a spotlight on authentic experiences in Yellowknife. Guests will enjoy a guided aurora viewing experience at the intimate Skydome, operated by a local Indigenous Dene-owned company. Hosting a maximum of just 40 guests across three viewing domes, the experience offers a more personal alternative to larger Aurora attractions that can host hundreds of visitors nightly.
Indigenous-owned operators lead the itinerary’s dogsledding experience and locally guided Yellowknife city tour, while other Yellowknife experiences such as net ice fishing and hands-on glasswork workshops add a cultural and interactive layer to the Arctic adventure.

Adventure World says the itinerary has been designed with Australian and New Zealand travellers in mind, particularly those wanting to experience a true white winter – something vastly different to what’s available closer to home.
The itinerary also pairs seamlessly with Adventure World’s Canadian Rockies winter journeys, including Snow Train to the Rockies and Winter Delights. Travellers can easily extend their mountain adventure by flying from Calgary, Edmonton or Vancouver to Yellowknife for an unforgettable Arctic finale.
Kristy Prince, North America Product Manager at Adventure World, said the itinerary delivers a side of Canada many travellers have never considered.
“What I love most about this itinerary is how completely immersive it feels. From the moment you arrive in Yellowknife and fly out to Blachford Lodge, you feel disconnected from the everyday and connected to the landscape around you. There’s something incredibly special about watching the Northern Lights dance overhead from a frozen lake, then coming back inside to the warmth of the lodge. It’s remote and adventurous, but still deeply comfortable – and that combination is what makes it so memorable for Australian and New Zealand travellers looking for a truly unique winter escape.”
