Australia’s flagship inbound tourism marketplace will return to Sydney in 2027, with Tourism Australia confirming the Australian Tourism Exchange (ATE27) will be staged at the International Convention Centre Sydney from May 16-20, 2027.

The announcement was made as ATE26 wrapped up in Adelaide today, capping another strong showing for the country’s largest annual tourism trade event. More than 2900 delegates attended this year’s exchange, including international buyers from 32 countries, reinforcing the event’s importance in driving inbound visitation and export-ready tourism business.

The return to Sydney marks the first time the event has been held in New South Wales in five years and comes at a pivotal time for the state’s visitor economy. Industry stakeholders are preparing for the opening of Western Sydney International Airport later this year, while major global events such as the 2027 Rugby World Cup are expected to generate renewed international attention for Australia.

Tourism Australia Managing Director Robin Mack said ATE remained the organisation’s most important annual business event for connecting Australian tourism operators with global distribution partners.

“This year’s tradeshow has delivered strong business outcomes. These face-to-face meetings have strengthened relationships to deliver a pipeline of forward-business that contributes to the continued sustainable growth of the Australian tourism sector,” Mack said.

Destination NSW Managing Director Karen Jones said the state was well-positioned to leverage the long-term commercial benefits generated by the event.

“We can’t wait to welcome travel buyers and visitor economy stakeholders to the ICC Sydney for ATE27, alongside our NSW tourism businesses,” Jones said.

“The relationships it builds and the future business it drives play a critical role in inbound tourism growth.”

ATE has been operating for almost five decades and remains a cornerstone event for the Australian tourism industry, facilitating thousands of pre-scheduled business appointments between international buyers and local tourism suppliers each year.
