Two endangered Eagle Ray pups are making waves at SEA LIFE Sunshine Coast Aquarium, with the newcomers now on display in the aquarium’s iconic Oceanarium Bay of Rays habitat.
Born on 16 March 2026 to proud parents Nova and Eddie, the two male pups are already capturing attention in the Oceanarium. Currently around the size of a dinner plate, with tails extending close to one metre in length, they are mesmerising guests as they glide effortlessly through the water alongside the aquarium’s resident marine life.
Despite being born on the same day, the brothers are showing very different personalities. One pup has quickly emerged as the more adventurous sibling, confidently exploring their surroundings and swimming up to curious guests, while the other is a little more shy.
The birth marks an exciting milestone for the aquarium, with Eagle Rays globally classified as Endangered by the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN). While Australian populations face lower risk thanks to stronger protections in local waters, successful births continue to play an important role in raising awareness of the species and inspiring future ocean conservation.
