Fresh from her win on Australian Idol, Kesha Nevé has been announced as joining the growing line-up of the 2026 Gympie Music Muster and she can’t hide her excitement.
“I’m so excited, I’m telling everyone who has ears,” Kesha said.
The Jindabyne local will make her debut at Muster this August, although she’s heard great things from friends who have performed at the festival and attended as music fans.
“I’ve never actually been to Muster before, but I’ve heard nothing but good things,” she said.
“That open-air, storytelling side of country music, that’s where I feel most at home. I honestly can’t wait.”
The Snowy Mountains singer-songwriter had already caught the eye of the Muster crew before she won the television competition.
“We had recently booked Kesha to play and were already looking forward to having her make her Muster debut,” Gympie Music Muster programming director Bec Anderson said.
“To see her take out the Idol crown was incredible and definitely icing on the cake.”
Kesha’s appearance was announced the day after she won Australian Idol, where she made a name for herself as an artist who connected with every song she performed, even though they were not her own… although she has plenty of her originals to come.
“The show gave me the chance to tell stories through other people’s songs, but now I’m ready to tell my own,” she said.
“I’ve been doing music since I could talk. Dad bought me my first guitar when I learned how to use my hands. I did my first competition at about eight years old called Jindy Idol, so it’s been a full circle moment in a lot of ways.”
From there, Kesha has built her experience through gigs, busking and time on the road, and her heart definitely lies in the country, growing up in the Snowy Mountains and spending the last few years travelling and working in rural areas including New Zealand which have added to her musical inspirations.
Her Gympie Music Muster set will feature a mix of songs audiences already know, alongside new material as she begins to release original music.
“Everyone get excited, my original music is coming,” she said.
As well as playing at the Gympie Music Muster, Kesha is excited to mingle with the crowds and check out all the stages and artists that the festival has to offer. She’s even hinted she might break out some boot scooting moves.
“Half of my love for music is being in the crowd and watching other artists,” she said.
“I’ll be out there, front and centre.”
