Preparations for the Boab Metals Ord Valley Muster continue ahead of its highly anticipated 25th anniversary event held 15 to 24 May in Kununurra, Western Australia.
For those embarking on the ultimate road trip, local businesses are actively working to keep travel costs down and alleviate any concerns about fuel in remote locations.
Tony Chafer, CEO of Cambridge Gulf Limited (CGL) and a former chair of Ord Valley Events Inc, shared some positive news for those hitting the road.
“Kununurra has secure diesel supplies through Wyndham Port, with ample reserves currently in storage, along with shipments arriving from Singapore in mid-April and again at the end of May,” Mr. Chafer said.
In the wake of news of other major event cancellations, Ord Valley Events Inc is reassuring travellers that it’s full steam ahead for the Muster.
Sophie Cooke, Chairperson of Ord Valley Events, emphasised the organisation’s commitment to the festival while acknowledging the challenges facing the wider events industry.
“We truly sympathise with the other major events that have had to make the tough call to cancel due to fuel prices and other pressures,” Ms. Cooke said.
“We know how much hard work goes on behind the scenes and it’s always heartbreaking for everyone involved.”
With the Ord Valley Muster going ahead as planned, this is an ideal time to visit the East Kimberley, with spectacular waterfalls in prime condition – a natural highlight for travellers attending the ten-day festival.
The 2026 Boab Metals Ord Valley Muster is packed with unforgettable events, including and the iconic Kimberley Moon Experience, headlined by Australian music royalty Tina Arena, alongside Boy & Bear and Budjerah.
Others include Wonder, a celebration of the greatest one-hit wonders in the world from Black Velvet to My Sharona guaranteed to get your toes tapping.
New this year is the vibrant Colours of Country, a special evening that showcases the cultural and artistic talent across the East Kimberley through art, music, fashion, food, and storytelling.
Comedy in the Park delivers a cracking night of stand-up, headlined this year by Eddie Ifft, Troy Kinne, Danielle Walker and He Huang.
The festival opens with the vibrant Horizon Power Party in the Park, a free evening of live music and community celebration.
Throughout the week, visitors can experience everything from the breathtaking Cultural Full Day Tour at El Questro to the adrenaline and dust of the Muster Rodeo, where the north’s best riders compete in a true outback spectacle.
