Gett, the popular app for on-demand and pre-booking London’s famous black taxis, has today (Thursday 12 March) announced its partnership with the Royal Albert Hall. Through their extensive network of licensed black cabs, Gett will provide the Hall’s concertgoers with reliable and swift transportation before and after events.

The collaboration will enable effortless arrival and departure for ticketholders, combining both London’s cultural and transport heritage, to enhance the experience for attendees of the 154-year-old venue − which hosts over 400 events annually, and welcoming almost 2 million visitors each year.

Having been established in London’s transport ecosystem for over a decade, Gett’s platform connects passengers to The Knowledge-certified drivers from the capital’s largest fleet of black taxis, enabling pick-up in less than four minutes across Central London.

Chris Lewis, Managing Director at Gett, said: “London’s black cabs are part of the city’s DNA and so is the Royal Albert Hall. We’re incredibly proud that Gett has been chosen as the Hall’s preferred taxi partner, bringing together two organisations that are woven into the fabric of London life. Whether it’s an unforgettable performance or a journey home afterwards, this partnership ensures visitors can experience the very best of the capital from start to finish.”

Matt ToddDirector of Programming at the Royal Albert Hall said: “We are delighted to be announcing Gett as the Hall’s preferred taxi partner. As an established part of London’s travel network, Gett’s values very much align with our own  providing incredible customer experiences, improving accessibility and operating sustainably. For our customers, we’re aware that the live sector is often synonymous with late nights or rushing straight from work to a venue to see an event, so this partnership will provide a huge benefit for those who want to bookend an unforgettable gig with a stress-free journey from the office to the venue, or seamlessly after the show back home.”

The partnership also reflects a shared commitment to sustainability goals. For Gett, more than 75 per cent of London’s black cab fleet are electric vehicles with every ride being carbon neutral. All CO₂ emissions are offset through a partnership with EcoAct and 2p from every ride is donated to the UK charity Trees for Cities. Gett is also working towards a target of 100 per cent zero-emission journeys by 2027 as part of their carbon reduction plan.

Since 2016, the Hall has reduced their carbon emissions by 45 per cent, with the aim to achieve net zero carbon emissions by 2040, aligning with Westminster City Council’s (WCC) target, and launched a 5-year Carbon Strategy in 2023.

The Hall has also developed a ‘Green Rider’ setting out expectations for promotors and artists on how they can support the Hall’s ambitions in reducing carbon emissions, such as encouraging external promoters to use the in-house PA and lights (which reduces the number of lorries travelling to and from the venue), to bring cups or bottles to refill from coolers, and to offer meat-free and plant-based meal options.

Gett’s network also includes accessible vehicles. The company provides dedicated driver training to support passengers with additional needs − an approach that aligns with the Royal Albert Hall’s ongoing work to improve accessibility for all visitors.

The Royal Albert Hall has welcomed a who’s who of world-renowned figures to its stage including Winston Churchill, Albert Einstein and Muhammad Ali, Ella Fitzgerald, The Beatles and Adele. Each year, the Hall’s auditorium presents around 400 world-class events: encompassing rock, pop and classical music, theatre, dance, films, Cirque du Soleil and sport.
