Australian travel agents recently gathered to discover the rich cultural experiences of Japan’s Ehime Prefecture. The intimate dinner event for 20 Australian travel agents and industry was held at Sokyo at The Darling Hotel in Sydney on Thursday 5th March.
Attached are a few images from the event.
Over the course of the evening, guests were treated to an in-depth look at the historic towns of Ōzu and Uchiko, and the distinctive experiences they offer travellers seeking a deeper connection with “off the beaten track” experiences in regional Japan.
Representatives from both Ehime, and its traditional towns – Ōzu and Uchiko – travelled to Australia to meet directly with local travel industry contacts, sharing insights into the destination’s preserved heritage streetscapes, traditional culture and growing appeal for international visitors.

The special guests from Japan included:
-
Hanako Aono of Ehime Prefecture Tourism Authority
-
Fan Hsieh of Kita Management Association (Ozu DMO), and
-
Michiko Miyoshi of Uchiko Tourism Association.
The evening concluded with a presentation from Rebecca George of SLC Representation, who introduced a series of new suggested Ehime itineraries designed for the Australian market. The routes demonstrate how travellers can easily connect Ōzu, Uchiko and surrounding experiences through two-, three-, four- and five-day itineraries, encouraging visitors to slow down and explore the region’s castle towns, local cuisine and cultural heritage in greater depth.
The event formed part of ongoing efforts to strengthen trade awareness of Ehime and highlight the prefecture as a compelling addition to broader Japan itineraries for Australian travellers.
