It’s the final month of this season’s Million Dollar Fish competition and organisers have upped the stakes, increasing the prize payout from $10,000 to $100,000 for whoever reels in the biggest red-tagged barramundi in the Territory this March.
The March activation transforms the competition’s final weeks into a big-fish showdown, where size, not speed determines the winner. With 82 barra carrying $10,000 red tags and 11 fish still swimming with a million‑dollar tag, anglers have more reason than ever to cast a line in the NT.
The boosted reward marks the largest Million Dollar Fish payout for a red-tagged fish since the iconic $1 million barramundi was reeled in during Season 9, delivering yet another headline-grabbing moment for Australia’s richest fishing competition.
With Season 11 already awarding more than $200,000 in prize money, the March escalation is expected to fuel even greater excitement on Territory waterways as anglers chase the catch and payday of a lifetime.

Million Dollar Fish Season 11 ends on March 31 2026. March’s Reel of Fortune challenge, ‘Size Matters’, rewards the angler who lands the largest Season 11 $10,000 red-tagged barramundi between 1–31 March.
The competition is open to people aged 18 and over, with free registration.
