Coravin, the global leader in wine-by-the-glass technology, today announced the sale of its two-millionth system. This milestone marks an evolution in global wine culture, signalling a shifting consumer preference towards premiumisation, moderation, and exploration.
For over a decade, Coravin has reshaped how the world enjoys wine, allowing consumers and wine professionals to pour a glass without compromising the rest of the bottle, meaning the same wine is completely unaffected, even years later.
Today, the system is an industry standard, used in approximately 70% of the World’s Best
Restaurants and every three-hatted venue in Australia. The system allows venues to greatly expand and elevate their by-the-glass wine lists whilst ensuring the wines are served in pristine condition. As of 2026, one glass of wine is poured using Coravin every second of every day around the world.

The 2 Million Milestone:
“Reaching two million systems sold is deeply personal for me,” said Greg Lambrecht, Founder and Inventor of Coravin. “What began as a solution to a problem I experienced myself has become a global movement. This milestone represents millions of individual moments of discovery, allowing people to enjoy wine without the pressure of waste.
“It’s also tangible proof that we are moving away from volume and toward quality. It’s no longer about finishing the bottle, but connecting, whether it’s with a producer, region, friend, or a just mindful moment. Today’s wine lover expects freedom in all aspects of their lives, and this milestone confirms they want that same choice in their glass: the ability to explore without the pressure to finish the bottle,” comments Lambrecht.
Australia’s Thirst for By-The-Glass:
Australia has emerged as a significant market for Coravin, recently overtaking France to become Coravin’s third-largest market globally. This growth reflects Australia’s changing drinking habits:
- 54% of Australian consumers independently surveyed by Coravin in 2025 reported that they now drink more wine-by-the-glass than they did two years ago.
- The results identified the primary driver of this increase to be the desire to explore premium wines without committing to a full bottle, however motivations differed generationally:
○ Millennial and Gen-Z drinkers reported that they were motivated by quality and diversity, while Baby Boomers reported being motivated by practical factors like cost, health, and driving considerations.
- According to a report from Wine Business Solutions commissioned by Coravin, Australian venues have increased by-the-glass listings by 33% since 2021.
From Sommelier to Sofa:
Once primarily considered a trade tool used by sommeliers to manage high-end inventory, Coravin now sees a 50/50 split between consumer and trade sales in Australia. Interestingly, the surge in at-home use is directly fueled by the hospitality sector. According to a 2024 Coravin study, 60% of Australian users first discovered the technology in a bar or restaurant.
Australian’s on-premise has also become a hub for Coravin’s Research & Development. In fact, the
Coravin Pivot system was engineered directly following a visit to Port Macquarie’s The Stunned Mullet by Coravin’s Inventor. General Manager Lou Perri challenged Lambrecht to create a system adapted to the realities of high-volume service: it had to be unbreakable, work on any closure (especially screwcaps), and pour a glass in five seconds flat. Inspired by this feedback, Lambrecht sketched the design on his flight home, creating a system built specifically for the fast pace of hospitality.
Coravin’s Journey
Over the past decade, Coravin has continued to expand its portfolio across consumer and professional channels:
- Coravin Timeless: Introduced in 2013, Coravin’s original wine by-the-glass system that launched the brand and enabled wine to be poured without removing the cork.
- Coravin Pivot: Launched in 2020, Pivot gives consumer and trade professionals the flexibility to pour wine from any bottle, with any closure, while keeping the remaining wine fresh for up to four weeks.
- Coravin Professional Range: Introduced in 2021, the Timeless Pro and Pivot Pro systems were developed specifically for the trade with larger Capsule Cups to accommodate 30% more argon gas per Capsule.
- Coravin Sparkling: Released in 2022 after eight years of development, Coravin Sparkling perfectly preserves the flavor and bubbles of any champagne or sparkling wine for at least four weeks.
Expansion
This global shift to drinking wine by-the-glass is reflected in Coravin’s sales, with the brand experiencing double-digit revenue growth over the last two years, a trend projected to continue through 2026.
“Reaching two million systems sold reflects the scale of impact Coravin has across the global wine industry,” said Dave Krupinski, CEO of Coravin. “This milestone marks a foundation for what comes next as we expand our product portfolio to drive growth in the wine industry around the world.”
Coravin recently launched The Coravin Guide, a digital platform that connects enthusiasts with premium wine-by-the-glass programs.
