Book a summer walking holiday in the Dolomite Mountains
Book by March 31
, 2026, and save five per cent

The Italian Alps are glistening around Cortina in far north Italy as part of the current Winter Olympics but come this July, walkers can again hike amongst lofty, open meadows studded with wildflowers, cosy chalets and enchanting villages kissed by summer sun.

One of the 39 self-guided walking holidays offered across Europe by On Foot Holidays is a spectacular, seven-night hike through the breathtaking Dolomites which backdrop the 2026 Olympic town of Cortina. Just as good as the majestic mountain scenery is the fact that the walk includes accommodation and many meals along the way, with your luggage transferred ahead to the next inn each day so all you need to carry on the track is a day pack. Plus, if you book the walking trip with On Foot Holidays before March 31, 2026, you can save five per cent.

On Foot Holidays’ seven-night walking holiday through the Dolomites begins at the pretty village of San Candido in the South Tyrol – a German-speaking enclave with rustic meadows and beer gardens. It then turns southwards, snaking through whispering woodlands and along mountain tracks with breathtaking views of the Italian Alps reflected in Lake Misurina and a walk past the Tre Cime di Lavaredo – three striking, battlement-like peaks. The week-long sojourn through the mountains ends in Cortina – co-host with Milan of the 2026 Winter Olympics.

Along the walk, guests will stay in a variety of accommodation including a small, boutique hotel in Cortina and a more humble, remote mountain refuge, Drei Schuster Hutte, where guests will find good food and a chance to swap stories with like-minded travellers.

The walking holiday is graded as medium-hard with four to seven hours of walking each day, with shortening options available. Including six nights’ B&B accommodation (pay locally for the night at the refuge, half-board), two dinners, daily luggage transfers, maps and directions, and a five per cent saving if booked before March 31, 2026, the route costs from £1468 British pounds per person, twin-share (approximately A$2842 depending on exchange rates). The seven-night, self-guided walk is available from July to September every year. Guests select their own dates. Please use discount code DOL5 when booking.
