Cabravale Club Resort will welcome Lunar New Year with a precinct-wide program of celebrations spanning entertainment, theming and food – anchored by two headline nights on 16 and 17 February. From traditional rituals and lion dancing to fireworks and late-night DJs, Cabravale will transform into a destination-led Lunar New Year experience in the heart of Western Sydney.
Since opening in November as Australia’s first integrated Club Resort, Cabravale has quickly become the premier entertainment and culinary destination in Western Sydney – bringing restaurants, bars, live entertainment, major events and premium accommodation together in one place, in the heart of Cabramatta and Canley Vale.
“Lunar New Year is one of the most important celebrations in our community – and Cabravale is built to bring people together in a big, joyful way,” said Vicki Le, Chief Commercial Officer, Cabravale Club Resort. “We’re creating a full-precinct experience that blends tradition, spectacle and incredible food – the kind of celebration you can make a whole night of, or an entire visit.”
What’s happening – headline activations and key moments
Across February, guests can expect a full Lunar New Year atmosphere throughout the resort, including:
- Traditional Lunar New Year ceremony (16 Feb): firecrackers, the Dotting of the Eyes ceremony to awaken the lions, and lion dancing through the resort, followed by a Fortune Salad toss and late-night celebrations, culminating in a major fireworks display at 11pm.
- Precinct theming: a showstopping 2.4-metre floral horse centrepiece in the Grand Foyer (Year of the Horse), plus lantern installations and immersive styling throughout key areas.
- Festival energy: a Lunar New Year (Tet) festival feel on the bowling greens with food stalls, family activities, rides and sideshow-style games – designed as a genuinely multigenerational night out.
- Across the month: roaming God of Fortune appearances, Tet DJs in Lotus Bar, and additional lion dance moments scheduled across February.
The food story – where Lunar New Year tastes best
At Cabravale, food is the headline – and Lunar New Year is when the precinct’s dining offer shines brightest. The Club has won the Your Local Club Perfect Plate Awards twice in recent years, reinforcing its reputation as dining worth travelling for.
District 8 and Horizon are serving Lunar New Year dishes designed for sharing – generous, symbolic and centre-of-table by design – including:
- Salmon with assorted crispy root veggies (風生水起 – 三文魚捞起)
- Braised pork trotter with preserved bean curd and iceberg (橫財就手 – 生菜南乳豬手)
- Steamed dried oyster with pork belly and black moss (發財好市 – 發菜蠔豉)
- Braised pork belly with preserved vegetables (蒸蒸日上 – 發菜扣肉)
- Deep-fried lychee prawn balls (金玉滿堂 – 妃子笑)
- Steamed sticky rice with Chinese sausage (黃金萬兩 – 臘味糯米飯)
For diners looking to elevate the occasion, Magma by Dany Karam is also marking the season with a dedicated Lunar New Year menu. Magma is Cabravale’s signature restaurant, built around open-flame fine dining and quickly emerging as a new culinary destination for Western Sydney.
New this week – Caffe Vicini now open at Cabravale
Adding to the precinct’s growing food and beverage line-up, Cabravale Club Resort has also welcomed a major new opening this week with Caffe Vicini now trading – the second venue to launch as part of the new-look resort. Owned and operated by chef Dany Karam, the stylish yet casual all-day café is designed to elevate everyday rituals, with an all-day menu spanning bespoke juices, coffee, tea and matcha, freshly baked pastries made in-house daily, and deli-style sandwiches done properly.
Caffe Vicini’s pastry programme is led by head chef Sebastien Geray and Michelin-trained pastry chef Manon Gonnet, with a rotating menu of specialty pastries and tarts, baked fresh daily. The café also offers a late-night dessert menu, plus specialty coffee – including Vittoria Lab Release, described as the “Rolls Royce” of Vittoria’s portfolio. Caffe Vicini is open daily from 9am, with dine-in and takeaway available.
A celebration grounded in heritage – and a new era
Cabravale’s Lunar New Year program is shaped by more than spectacle. The Club’s story began in 1925, founded by returned servicemen and built as a gathering place for community, connection and camaraderie. Now, as Cabravale Club Resort, that same spirit continues – reimagined for a new era and a new generation, while remaining proudly rooted in Western Sydney.
