A friendly hotel in a convenient location, AMERON Luzern Hotel Flora is a delightful hidden gem on the city’s hotel scene. Situated on a small side street very close to Lucerne’s central train station, the hotel is ideally placed to explore the city’s many attractions, including the excellent Rosengart Collection art museum on the corner.
- Home sweet home at AMERON Luzern Hotel Flora.
- Lucerne’s famous Chapel Bridge.
AMERON Hotel Flora’s recently renovated rooms provide a refreshing retreat after a busy day out exploring Lucerne’s Old Town, the enormous Transport Museum, or the many other appealing options, which include a simple stroll along the lakefront promenade. Lake Lucerne is, of course, one of Switzerland’s most scenic bodies of water, having the snowcapped Alps as a backdrop to the historical city and small villages lining its shore. Back at the hotel, the large lobby serves as a living room, with a cosy sitting area complete with a fireplace and a library to rest after a return from tasting chocolate at Max Chocolatier or one of the enticing lake cruises available through Lake Lucerne Navigation Company. Basic rides on the Company’s vessels are included with a Swiss Travel Pass, the magic key that opens Switzerland, with unlimited use of trains, ferries, and urban transport networks across the country, not to mention entry to more than 500 museums. The Rosengart Collection, with its priceless collection of Picasso paintings, is one of them. The Swiss Travel Pass also includes rides on famous trains such as the GoldenPass and the Bernina Express, as well as some cable-car facilities to ascend mountain summits across the country.
- Is it real or is it an illusion
- Le Petit Chef dinner experience
The fantastic dining options at AMERON Luzern Hotel Flora include Le Petit Chef, a dinner phenomenon making its playful presence known worldwide. For those unfamiliar with the concept, Le Petit Chef is a clever video show screened right onto the tabletop, with the title character comically preparing a virtual meal. That virtual meal is replaced by the real thing brought to the table by a team of affable servers in the intimate dining room; reservations are highly coveted for the restricted number of tables available each night. This being Switzerland, where quality is of the utmost importance, the food served on the set menu is delicious and satisfying. The same applies to the hotel’s Bacio della Mamma restaurant, an expansive space with a jovial atmosphere befitting its Mediterranean cuisine. Come morning, an extensive breakfast buffet is similarly satisfying, offering a wide array of food and drink to start the day right. One of the nicest aspects of hotel breakfasts in Switzerland is the range of cheeses served. Alongside the more familiar types of Swiss cheese, such as Emmental, some of the country’s regional products, hard to find elsewhere, can be enjoyed while visitors are in the area.
January is one of the most joyous times to visit Lucerne, thanks to the city’s beautiful Lilu Light Festival, which illuminates the Old Town and other locations around the city and presents shows indoors in a variety of venues. The Jesuit Church, for example, will host a musical presentation called SOUL that illuminates the interior in stunning style. Very interestingly, the festival also offers behind-the-scenes tours to learn about the light installations rather than look at them. AMERON Luzern Hotel Flora is offering a Lilu x Petit Chef guest-and-dining package for this special event taking place from 15-25 January.
