The 2025 MICHELIN Keys—the hotel world’s equivalent of a MICHELIN Star—were unveiled in Paris this week. Five Tasmanian hotels were recognised for their exceptional stays.
Among the Tasmanian winners were Saffire Freycinet, awarded Two Keys, alongside Islington Hotel, The Henry Jones Art Hotel, The Tasman, and MACq01, each receiving One Key.
First launched in 2024 and previously limited to 15 countries across North America, Europe and Asia, the 2025 MICHELIN Keys mark the guide’s first genuinely global hotel selection, expanding to include every region – and, for the first time, Oceania.
The Tasmanian properties were recognised among the best hotels in Australia, New Zealand, Fiji and French Polynesia.
MICHELIN describes a One Key hotel as offering “a very special stay” – “a true gem where service consistently goes the extra mile” – while a Two Key hotel promises “an exceptional stay” that is “unique in every way” and “run with obvious pride and care.”
