Vietjet has marked two major milestones this week; officially breaking ground on its state-of-the-art Aircraft Maintenance and Engineering Centre at Long Thanh International Airport and announcing 10,000 additional seats across nearly 50 extra flights during Vietnam’s upcoming National Day holiday (30 August – 2 September). Together, these initiatives highlight Vietjet’s long-term investment in Vietnam’s aviation future while delivering more choice and flexibility for Australian travellers heading to Vietnam during one of its most vibrant holiday seasons.
Set to become Vietnam’s largest and most advanced aviation hub, Long Thanh International Airport is central to Vietjet’s strategy of supporting the country’s growing role as one of Asia’s top destinations for Australian visitors. Vietjet now operating over 145 international and domestic services including four direct Australian routes, the new facility will enhance Vietnam’s aviation capabilities and support Vietjet’s commitment to seamless, global travel experience for passengers.

With a total investment of nearly USD100 million, the project includes the development of Hangars 3 and 4 at the under-construction airport. The new centre will support the maintenance needs of Vietjet’s expanding fleet, feature synchronised, international-standard infrastructure and will be capable of servicing up to 10 aircraft simultaneously.
In parallel, Vietjet is expanding services to meet the surge in travel demand for Vietnam’s 80th National Day celebrations. The airline is adding 10,000 extra seats on nearly 50 additional flights, reinforcing its position as the preferred carrier for domestic and international holiday travel. These services will cover key domestic routes connecting Ho Chi Minh City, Hanoi, Da Nang, Nha Trang, Phu Quoc, and Hue – Vietnam’s most popular cities and tourist hubs. For Australian travellers, the extra capacity provides greater flexibility to connect seamlessly from Vietjet’s direct flights into Vietnam to onward destinations, ensuring more affordable options to explore the country during a peak festive season when demand is at its highest

The breaking-ground of the Aircraft Maintenance and Engineering Centre follows its receipt this week of 1,200 cubic meters of Sustainable Aviation Fuel that meets stringent international ISCC EU standards. This week’s milestones underscore Vietjet’s long-term strategic vision and commitment to sustainable, future-focused investment. It also highlights the pioneering role of private enterprises in advancing aviation infrastructure and driving international development.
