This Mid-Autumn Festival, Gourmet Carousel trades tradition for a touch of playful reinvention with the debut of its first-ever handcrafted Moon Pastries with six boldly different takes on the flavours Singaporeans grew up with.
Freshly baked to order in Carousel’s halal-certified kitchen, these moon pastries are a creative take on traditional mooncakes – six distinct flavours that remix familiar favourites. Skip the regular lotus filling and choose from: chendol, pandan, gula melaka and more.
“Mid-Autumn is about gathering with the people who matter, and sweet treats make those moments even better. As the saying goes, 花好月圆人团圆 (huā hǎo yuè yuán rén tuán yuán) – when the flowers bloom and the moon is full, families come together,” says Chef Darren. “We’ve taken the flavours so many of us grew up with and given them a fresh twist, so they feel both familiar and full of surprise.”
The collection features six distinct flavours, each with its own story:
- Emerald Dreams – 翡翠之梦 (Pandan & Red Bean): Nostalgic and dreamy, with a fragrant pandan pastry and smooth red bean filling.
- Straits Fusion – 南洋月语 (Gula Melaka Lotus with Mochi): Bold and modern, with chewy mochi and caramel sweetness.
- Ondeh Pop – 椰香青语 (Pandan Coconut with Cocoa Crumbs): A playful take on ondeh ondeh with a crunchy cocoa finish.
- Ong Lai Lai – 旺萊来 (Sarawak Honey Pineapple with Gold Leaf): Sweet, tangy, and topped with golden luck.
- Lotus Blossom – 莲韵花香 (Rose Lotus Paste): Delicate, floral, and silky.
- Teochew Treasures – 潮州之宝 (Yam, Pandan & Gula Melaka Layers): A layered tribute to Teochew indulgence.
