QANTAS - Masterbrand - logo.In an elegant tango between cashmere and carry-on, two of Australia’s most iconic brands — David Jones and Qantas — have sashayed into a loyalty partnership that promises to dish out rewards faster than you can say “boarding pass.”

Announced with the kind of pageantry one reserves for royal visits or Boxing Day sales, this landmark tie-up sees the venerable department store teaming up with Qantas Frequent Flyer — and the result? A shopper’s paradise, reimagined with sky-high perks.

From later this year, every trip to David Jones, whether in its 40 elegant bricks-and-mortar stores or through the scroll-happy aisles of its online marketplace, will earn you points — your pick: David Jones Rewards or Qantas Frequent Flyer. Because, let’s face it, sometimes it’s not just about the suit; it’s about the suite.

“We’re incredibly proud to bring together two iconic Australian brands,” beamed Scott Fyfe, CEO of David Jones, sounding less like a retail executive and more like a man who just snagged a first-class upgrade to Milan.

Fyfe says the initiative is integral to the department store’s Vision 2025+ growth strategy. “With over 55 million store visitors and 110 million online visits a year, many of whom are already Frequent Flyers, this partnership was simply meant to be.”

And so, with a dab of cologne and a swipe of a card, you’ll soon be collecting points with purpose — racking them up toward over 20 million reward seats, upgrades, hotel stays, and travel experiences galore.

David Jones Rewards: Retail Therapy with Altitude

The new David Jones Rewards program is more than just a glossy piece of plastic — it’s a runway to indulgence. From Le Creuset kitchen gear to high-end handbags, every splurge sends your points skyward. You’ll even be able to redeem Qantas Points at DJs — blending fashion with flight in a way only the Australians could pull off without irony.

And if you’re wondering whether the skies are friendly, the data suggests a resounding yes. More than half of Qantas Frequent Flyers earned points via retail in the last year alone. According to Andrew Glance, CEO of Qantas Loyalty, “One in two Qantas Frequent Flyers already shop regularly at David Jones. This partnership turns that into tangible rewards.”

With Qantas Loyalty already seeing retail points-earning double in the past five years — and projections it’ll double again by 2030 — the tie-up is less a gamble and more a platinum-tier no-brainer.

A High-Flying App for Grounded Glamour

When it launches, the new David Jones mobile app will serve as the cockpit of your loyalty flight plan. It’ll let users link memberships, monitor point balances, and access exclusive treats — because why should your loyalty card do any less than your smartwatch?

The app promises tailored offers and seamless integration, proving once and for all that luxury doesn’t have to be complex — just clever.

From Corner Store to Cloud Nine

Let’s not forget the legacy: David Jones has been outfitting Australians since 1838 — back when the idea of earning points for anything other than moral character was unheard of. Now, nearly two centuries later, it’s still setting trends, not just following them.

So yes, the old girl’s still got it — and she’s now moonlighting with Qantas, inviting Australians to shop, fly, and be rewarded, all in one fashionable swoop.

The whole David Jones Rewards program will be revealed later this year. But if this teaser is anything to go by, you’d best dust off that points calculator and start plotting your next reward run — because this is loyalty, the way only Australians could do it: with polish, pride, and a cheeky wink.
