TransNusa - logoIn a confident stride that’s equal parts ambition and aeronautical artistry, Southeast Asia’s first holistic premium service airline, TransNusa, is doubling its Bali–Perth flight frequency—much to the delight of West Australians who prefer their tropical getaways with a touch of flair and a chilled drink served at cruising altitude.

From July 18, the carrier will operate a sparkling 14 return services weekly on the popular route, up from its current seven. The expansion, revealed by the airline’s straight-talking Group CEO Datuk Bernard Francis, is set to roll out in two clear phases—just like a good holiday itinerary.

“We’ll first scale up from seven to eleven weekly flights, then hit the magic number—fourteen—from mid-July,” Francis explained, likely while mentally blocking out seat maps with military precision.

Phase One: Perth Prepares for a Midweek Invasion

Kicking off on 2 July, the first phase introduces four new services—flights on Wednesdays, Thursdays, Fridays, and Sundays—bringing the total to eleven. That’s four more chances a week to ditch the doona and escape to Bali’s sunset shores. Then, from 18 July, phase two swoops in with daily double departures—two each way, every day. No excuses, folks.

TransNusa isn’t just tinkering with timetables either. It’s courting the discerning traveller with all the hallmarks of premium service, without the eyebrow-singeing price tag.

A Premium Airline That Still Believes in Courtesy

TransNusa’s Bali–Perth route, which launched with great fanfare on 20 March 2025, has been riding a tailwind of demand, thanks in part to its unique blend of low-fuss pricing and high-touch perks.

The airline, which cleverly splits its personality—operating premium international services while keeping its domestic routes affordable—recently gained regulatory clearance to apply its Premium Service Carrier model across both markets.

So what does that mean for flyers?

Well, for starters, forget the sardine-can seat configurations of budget rivals. TransNusa’s Airbus A320s have been de-bulked for breathing room, legroom, and dignity. Each aircraft features a 174-seat layout—a tad more civilised than the elbow-jousting norm.

Travellers on SEAT-PLUS or FLEXI-PRO fare bundles can enjoy refund options, unlimited flight changes, and 20kg of checked baggage—no surprise fees for that extra sarong you just had to buy. You’ll also be allowed a 7kg carry-on for good measure.

“FLEXI-PRO” Means Business (Class Comfort, Economy Fare)

In a market where “premium” usually equates to “pricey”, TransNusa is bucking the trend. Its FLEXI-PRO tier offers:

  • 30kg free baggage

  • Seat selection (none of this lucky dip nonsense)

  • Free food and drinks

  • Priority check-in and boarding

  • No-penalty flight changes

  • Full refunds when plans change

It’s the kind of generosity that makes seasoned travellers blink twice—usually over a steaming inflight coffee that didn’t cost extra.

“We’re not just selling seats—we’re offering peace of mind,” said Francis. “Our aim is to position TransNusa as a secure and caring brand, without the frills being just for show.”

Bali to Perth—and Beyond to Guangzhou

TransNusa isn’t stopping at the beach clubs of Seminyak. The airline also connects Bali to Guangzhou, China, opening up a seamless triangle of cultural and retail indulgence for the adventurous Aussie.

And with a maximum 2-hour transit window between the Perth–Bali and Bali–Guangzhou flights, there’s just enough time to grab a nasi goreng before jetting off to southern China.

“For West Aussies keen on a side-trip to China’s breathtaking Gulong Gorge glass bridge, our schedules make it a breeze,” Francis added. “A little Bali sun, then a thrill walk in the sky.”

New Timetables (and New Reasons to Fly)

Starting 1 July, TransNusa adds a second Bali–Perth service:

  • Flight 8B 082 (DPS–PER) departs Bali at 12:55 pm, arrives in Perth at 4:55 pm

  • Flight 8B 083 (PER–DPS) departs Perth at 6:05 pm, arrives in Bali at 9:50 pm

These new flights join the already-operating services:

  • Flight 8B 080 (DPS–PER) leaves Bali at 9:10 am, lands in Perth at 12:50 pm

  • Flight 8B 081 (PER–DPS) takes off from Perth at 1:35 pm, touches down in Bali at 5:20 pm

With just 3 hours and 40 minutes in the air, it’s practically quicker than navigating peak-hour traffic on the Mitchell Freeway.

TransNusa’s strategic upgrade to a twice-daily Bali–Perth schedule isn’t just a sign of growth—it’s a signal flare to competitors and a love letter to premium travellers with smart wallets. In a climate where airlines often say “premium” but deliver “pain”, TransNusa is proving that comfort, flexibility, and value can fly together. And judging by its smooth trajectory, the skies over Western Australia just got a little more elegant.
