Marriott’s Moxy brand targets the young and young-at-heart with its lively hotel experience. Guest contributor and Senior Cardholder, Roderick Eime, reviews the Moxy Bangkok Ratchaprasong, a one-year-old property.

Marriott introduced the Moxy lifestyle brand to disrupt the traditional hotel industry, and the Moxy Bangkok Ratchaprasong perfectly embodies this energetic and youthful spirit, similar to its more than 100+ sister properties worldwide.

My first encounter with the brand was at the inaugural Australian property at Sydney Airport: https://www.gourmetontheroad.com/2023/12/moxy-putting-fun-and-frivolity-back.html. You immediately notice the bold, industrial-chic decor, which features retro elements like vinyl records and vintage arcade games.

The welcome area is filled with upbeat music and eclectic decorations, blending styles reminiscent of Liberace, Banksy, and Warhol. These vibrant spaces are designed for social media sharing, a strategic move targeting their customer base.

While maintaining the brand’s signature style, the Bangkok property is the largest Moxy hotel in the Asia-Pacific region. Located in Pathum Wan, near the Chit Lom BTS, this 500+ room hotel, spanning 20 levels, elevates the Moxy experience.

The rooms are similar to those at the Sydney Airport property. Sixty per cent of the rooms are standard Queen rooms, with twin and deluxe options also available. The entry-level rooms are 18 sqm, which might feel small, but clever design elements, such as the “wall wardrobe” and folding furniture, maximise space, and large windows offer city views. The Deluxe rooms are 36 sqm, and 18 corner rooms provide 26 sqm.

The hotel uses Simmons mattresses, a preferred brand for many top hotel chains, ensuring a comfortable sleep.

Dining and event spaces differ significantly from those in Australian properties. While still featuring an “industrial” feel with a cafeteria format, Moxy Bangkok has an expansive Level 9 area with reception, a bar, and various play spaces. An outdoor terrace offers city views and is ideal for events.

A grab’n’go booth is available, but the sit-down experience is recommended. Chef P and Deputy Chef Mind suggest the Massaman beef curry for dinner and pork (or chicken) in black sauce soup for breakfast.

The cocktail menu, inspired by Hollywood films, includes creations like The Infinity Kiss, The Iceberg, Hunter’s Last Shot, Galactic Stardust, and Felix Felicis.

Moxy Bangkok Ratchaprasong offers various promotions, such as the ‘STAY FOR BREAKFAST’ promotion, which includes a complimentary breakfast.
