Swarovski KristallweltenToday, Swarovski Kristallwelten celebrates the opening of a new Chamber of Wonder, ‘Crystallizing Identity’, created by renowned Japanese performance and installation artist, Chiharu Shiota. This spectacular new exhibit is dedicated to individual brilliance and relationships that are written in the stars.

Incorporating crystals into her art for the first time, Shiota has used this multifaceted material to explore how we can be unapologetically ourselves while simultaneously forging deep and honest connections with others.

As complex as it is captivating, this layered installation also references the Japanese legend of the red thread. A story passed down through generations, it presents the idea that those who are destined to meet remain linked throughout their lives by invisible red threads.

The concept comes to life through a network of red woolen threads interwoven with delicate crystal beads. The threads eventually converge, pooling into a pair of feet, arms, and the hand of the artist crafted by Swarovski Manufaktur.

Chiharu Shiota explained: “While we often believe our experiences are isolated, in fact; we’re inherently connected. I’m fascinated by that tension: we live in separate bodies, but we share a universe of thought. The Swarovski Kristallwelten Giant inspired me to revisit this riddle of life. A head dissolving into the landscape with a belly full of artistic endeavors, the Giant encapsulates the way our individual selves are informed by those we meet, and by the threads that bind us.”

Michele Molon, Chief Commercial Officer of Swarovski, commented: “For 130 years, Swarovski has fused innovation with artistry, believing that true luxury lies in the power to inspire. As we celebrate this remarkable legacy, Swarovski Kristallwelten continues to tell meaningful stories through crystal — evoking emotion, forging connection, and redefining what POP LUXURY can be.”Swarovski
