Courtyard By Marriott logoMarriott International has appointed Scott Breen as General Manager, Courtyard by Marriott Melbourne Flagstaff Gardens.  With a strong foundation in luxury hospitality and a passion for people-first leadership, Breen brings to the role over 15 years of international experience across Canada, the United States, and Australia.

Breen has held a range of key leadership positions at some of the world’s most esteemed hotels including The Ritz-Carlton, Toronto, The Ritz-Carlton, Bachelor Gulch, and most recently served as Hotel Manager at Sheraton Grand Mirage Resort, Gold Coast. His well-rounded background across hotel rooms divisions and executive leadership positions have led to his first General Manager position at Courtyard by Marriott Flagstaff Gardens, and is ready to lead the hotel into its next phase of growth.

Commenting on his appointment, Breen said, “The results this hotel has achieved in just three years are truly impressive. I was drawn to the boutique feel and the close-knit culture of the team here. I’m excited to become part of the Courtyard by Marriott family – Marriott’s most prevalent brand globally – and to help build on the strong foundation already in place.”

In his new role, Scott is focused on maintaining the hotel’s stellar reputation in the rooms space, while growing its presence in the local Food, Beverage, and MICE markets.

Breen is enthusiastic about positioning the hotel to lead the competitor set in conferencing and events, with a focus on providing seamless business experiences. “By introducing more businesses to the hotel and executing events with precision, we can build on our strong rooms foundation and create a compelling offering for corporate guests. We also have some exciting developments coming soon.”

Outside of hotel operations, Scott is passionate about mentoring future talent in the hospitality industry. He looks forward to connecting with universities, colleges, and young professionals to share his journey and inspire the next generation of hoteliers.
