SeaLink North Queensland has reinforced its commitment to the Townsville community by donating essential food supplies to Wee Care, a service of Althea Projects, which provides short-term crisis and emergency accommodation for children aged 0 to 11 years.

As part of its ongoing support for local initiatives, SeaLink North Queensland has provided platters of cold meats, salads, fruits, and other nutritious items to assist Wee Care in delivering meals to children under their care. This contribution aims to ensure that vulnerable children have access to healthy food during times of crisis.

Darren Spearman, General Manager, SeaLink North Queensland said, “Community is at the heart of everything we do, and we believe in making a positive impact where it’s needed most.”

We have partnered with Althea Projects for many years, donating travel vouchers to their annual events. Today, we are proud to support Wee Care by providing nutritious meals for the children and families they assist,” Mr Spearman continued.

Wee Care has been a cornerstone of support in Townsville for over 50 years, offering programs in child protection, fostering, homelessness, and family support. Their services include 24-hour emergency accommodation, respite care, and weekly playgroups open to the community.

The food donation from SeaLink North Queensland will benefit children in their 24-hour care and those attending the playgroup. Any surplus will be distributed through Wee Care’s Emergency Food Relief program, providing essential supplies to other local families in need.

“We are incredibly grateful for SeaLink North Queensland’s generosity and commitment to our cause,” said Paula La Rosa, Chief Executive Officer, Wee Care. “Their support enables us to continue making a meaningful difference in the lives of children and families in our community.”

SeaLink North Queensland remains dedicated to supporting the communities in which it operates through charitable donations, sponsorships, and in-kind services.
