Regional Victoria’s largest urban art exhibition is returning to the streets of Benalla, transforming the historic town into an immersive canvas of contemporary street art from Friday, April 11th, to Sunday, April 13th, 2025. The Benalla Street Art Festival will bolster the city’s existing murals to 85 large-scale works, welcoming acclaimed Australian and international artists to the leafy high country for one weekend only.
Since Benalla’s bold beginnings in the street art scene a decade ago, its Festival has grown from a local event into one of Australia’s most extensive open-air galleries. The dynamic three-day festival blends jaw-dropping visual art with vibrant live music to enjoy.
This year’s festival brings together an expectational lineup of talent, including Archibald Packing Room Prize winner Adnate and celebrated muralist Claire Foxton. Melbourne duo Creature Creature will showcase their Asian-Western fusion style, while Spencer Harrison and Drez bring their geometric and optical artworks. The roster also features dynamic and acclaimed artists MEGGS, Aurora Campbell, HWJ, Gus Leunig, and Yan Yan Candy Ng, who will contribute their unique styles to the festival landscape.

The festival’s program reflects diverse styles and stories, from large-scale murals to intimate installations. Visitors can witness artists in action as they create new works, join guided tours led by experts, and engage directly with creators through intimate artist talks at the Benalla Cinema and Art Gallery. Adding new murals by 10 leading artists will cement Benalla’s reputation as a leading destination for contemporary urban art in Australia.
Curated by legendary music and art guru Eddie Zammit, the festival promises to turn Benalla’s beautiful streetscape into extraordinary masterpieces of contemporary art. Eddie is keen to celebrate local stories and diversity through art, making this year’s festival a vibrant and meaningful experience.
Eddie Zammit, Curator at Eddie Zammit, said: “It’s great to be back in Benalla to lead the 2025 Street Art Festival. I’m passionate about transforming spaces with innovative art installations—on walls of all shapes and sizes.”
Bess Nolan-Cook, Chief Executive Officer, Tourism North East, adds: “We welcome all visitors, art enthusiasts or anyone looking for a rich cultural experience to join us on the streets of Benalla from April 11. This is one of regional Victoria’s most anticipated cultural events, where streets come alive, and crowds gathering to watch blank walls transform into stunning murals – it’s great to see a community come together and put a regional town on the cultural map.”
The 2025 Benalla Street Art Festival welcomes visitors from across Australia to witness the transformation of Benalla’s streetscapes.
