From both recent and upcoming hotel openings, a new dive centre, and an archeological site at a boutique hotel for the history buffs, there are now even more reasons for travellers to visit the beautiful islands.

The 2-star urban hotel, which is scheduled to open at the end of 2025, is conveniently located near the Papeete market, the ferry terminal and shopping areas, making it an ideal spot to base oneself in the capital while exploring the island of Tahiti.
Bloody Mary’s Hotel due to open at the end of 2025
The restaurant, which has been well-frequented by celebrities and is considered an institution for travellers visiting the island of Bora Bora, closed for renovations in 2023 to expand the space for a hotel. The new Bloody Mary’s Hotel and the refurbished restaurant are due to reopen at the end of 2025, where guests can stay in a range of overwater bungalows as well as enjoy the dining facilities at the restaurant.
Archaeological excavations at Maitai Lapita Village Huahine
On the site of the boutique hotel Maitai Lapita Village Huahine, archaeological excavations were carried out by Mark Eddowes in late 2024. During the installation of the swimming pools for the premium lake bungalows, the excavations led to the discovery of a dolphin tooth, a sculpted hook and a bonito lure. The team also found a mother-of-pearl coconut grater, two sperm whale teeth as pendants, of which the team noticed a hole on the side to make a necklace. There are only around ten in the world, and the object can be dated back to the 11th century. Maitai Lapita is the only hotel to have been designed on an archaeological site in Polynesia, and the ancient objects are exhibited in the hotel’s museum, which traces the history of the Lapita civilisation, the very first to populate Polynesia.
New Dive Centre at the Intercontinental Tahiti Resort & Spa
Located at the luxury resort on the main island of Tahiti, is this new dive centre, Activiseas, which offers numerous excursions, including the possibility of passing the different diving levels.
