Agoda - LogoAs International Women’s Day approaches on March 8, a groundbreaking Agoda survey reveals how Asian women are revolutionizing travel trends in 2025. With an insatiable thirst for discovery, a strong sense of adventure, and a deep appreciation for shared experiences, women across the region are redefining how and why they travel. The findings spotlight a powerful movement—women are not just travelling more; they are shaping the very essence of modern tourism.

The Quest for Uncharted Destinations

Adventure and discovery are at the forefront of female-driven travel trends. Agoda’s research highlights that 60% of women prioritize exploring new destinations, surpassing men at 53%. This drive is particularly prominent among Indian and Indonesian women, with a staggering 80% and 69%, respectively, eager to uncover uncharted locations.

This shift signals a growing appetite for cultural immersion, unique landscapes, and the excitement of venturing into the unknown. Whether it’s the bustling streets of a lesser-known Asian city or the tranquil beauty of an untouched beach, women are boldly seeking fresh experiences that ignite their wanderlust.

The Rise of Family-Focused Travel

Another defining trend is the emphasis on family-oriented journeys. Agoda’s study finds that 40% of Asian women prefer family travel, compared to 28% of men. Indonesian women, in particular, display an overwhelming inclination for family travel, with 68% expressing a preference for shared adventures.

Beyond family vacations, female travellers are also embracing trips with close friends. Japanese and Indian women emerge as frontrunners in this category, with 29% and 25% opting for group travel, respectively. The data underscores a collective yearning for meaningful, shared experiences—a departure from solo exploration in favour of creating lasting memories with loved ones.

Solo Travel: A Growing Phenomenon

While men continue to dominate the solo travel sphere (24% versus 15% of women), Hong Kong SAR and Thai women stand out as independent explorers, with 25% and 22%, respectively, embracing the freedom of solo journeys. This trend reflects an increasing number of women seeking personal growth, empowerment, and self-discovery through travel.

The Ideal Travel Duration: 5-10 Days of Immersion

Regarding trip length, Asian women favour a 5–10 day getaway, with 48% preferring this duration, compared to 40% of men. Indian and Hong Kong SAR women are particularly inclined toward extended vacations, allowing them to fully immerse themselves in new cultures, cuisines, and local experiences.
