Flight Centre Travel Group (FLT) has once again reinforced its dominant position in the corporate travel sector, announcing an unprecedented Total Transaction Value (TTV) of AUD$6 billion in the first half of the fiscal year 2025. This milestone represents a recovery of over 140% of pre-pandemic levels, cementing FLT’s strength in an industry still regaining its footing post-COVID.
Profitable Growth and Productivity Gains Drive Performance
According to the company’s latest mid-year report, FLT recorded an underlying profit before tax (UPBT) of AUD$117 million for the first half of FY25, marking a 7% year-on-year increase. The corporate division also demonstrated resilience and strength, contributing AUD$96 million in UPBT—an impressive 4% boost compared to the previous fiscal period.
Melissa Elf, Managing Director of Flight Centre Corporate ANZ, attributed this success to FLT’s strategic approach to technology, service excellence, and operational efficiency. “We are proud to see our corporate brands—FCM Travel, Corporate Traveller, and Stage and Screen—continuing to lead the market. Our focus on customer satisfaction and investment in automation are key drivers of our long-term profitable growth.”
AI and Automation at the Core of FLT’s Expansion
One of the most significant contributors to FLT’s performance has been its ongoing investment in Productive Operations and artificial intelligence (AI) enhancements. The company forecasts a 15–20% increase in productivity between FY24 and FY26, leveraging AI-driven efficiencies to optimize service delivery.
Chris Galanty, Global Corporate CEO of Flight Centre Travel Group, emphasized the pivotal role of AI in FLT’s transformation strategy: “Our global Centre of Excellence is spearheading AI innovations that automate routine tasks, allowing our teams to focus on delivering outstanding service. With the expansion of self-service capabilities through the FCM platform, we are streamlining operations and enhancing the customer experience.”
Strategic Market Positioning and Client Expansion
FLT’s corporate travel division has successfully expanded its client portfolio, securing over AUD$800 million in new account wins in the current financial year. The SME-specialist business, Corporate Traveller, has strengthened its position, leveraging rapid onboarding processes to secure and retain a high volume of new clients.
Meanwhile, FLT’s niche travel divisions, including Stage and Screen and FCM Meetings & Events, are poised for further expansion. “We are actively targeting specialist sectors for continued growth,” Galanty added. “Our goal is to enhance service offerings while improving cost efficiency through AI and automation.”
A Resilient Future in Corporate Travel
Despite the global economic challenges, FLT remains optimistic about the future of corporate travel. Elf highlighted the increasing demand for business travel, stating: “Corporate travel is not a luxury—it is a necessity for businesses to thrive, retain staff, and secure new opportunities. Our commitment to technological advancements ensures that we stay ahead of market trends and continue to provide value-driven travel solutions.”
With continued investments in AI, automation, and customer-centric strategies, Flight Centre Travel Group is well-positioned to capitalize on the ongoing recovery of corporate travel. As the company progresses through FY25, its focus remains on sustainable, profitable growth that benefits its clients and shareholders.
